So I came over from FF14 and as I’ve been playing classes to figure out which one I like the most and I’ve noticed that on some classes it feels good and on others it feels abysmal. So my only higher reference is this Shaman and I gotta say I hit 3 buttons and then I have to wait like 3-5 seconds before I can do anything and it feels awful so I swapped over to warrior and Arms felt the same, but Fury feels fast paced and good. I haven’t had a lot of time to test out everything, but is the combat slower at lower levels? I mean you have less abilities granted, but I always here that this games comat is so much faster and at least on Shaman it feels like FF. It feels slow. In FF it gets a lot faster once you get ogcds. I’m just wondering what’s the threshold here like level 50? I know the cap is 60.
I havnt played much ff to be fair but I found it to be the opposite. Ff had a longer gcd and to me it was too slow.
Not particularly. Sure, you may find that you kill mobs slower than someone kitted out in full heirlooms, but the combat-even early on-is pretty fluid and you almost always have a button to press!
It gets fast at high levels, 50+
until then it’s like an extended tutorial, you basically have nothing and the game can feel slow in that regard
some classes have a longer global cooldown than others, warriors and paladins for example have a longer wait between abilities than say rogues or demon hunters
See that’s the issue is I have nothing to press for like 5 seconds while the npc is just wailing on me. It just feels weirdly slow like I should be able to keep hitting it especially that I have two weapons it just feels sluggish to me right now. It turned me off of playing Enchancment for sure.
That gets sorted out once you get more ogcds.
I ment to start Demon Hunter I unlocked it the other day, but i rerolled a Warrior to test it out.
It’s going to be like that for a bit. But the rate at which you kill things is substantially faster through levelling than In FF14, at least in my experience.
So while you may spend a second or two killing something with no button to press, you’re offsetting that with procs, self heals, utility, and pure speed.
But again, that’s my experience compared to FF14 and having recently leveled my own enhance shaman.
So far the questing and the atmosphere is miles ahead of FF. Don’t get me wrong the story is kinda crap, but I really like how alive the world feels and how if you click npcs they speak. It’s the little things.
But it’s good to know it gets better. I was starting to get worried I mean I knew it had to get better, but so far it was terrible feeling to not have a button to press for that long.
To be fair, at max lvl in sub par gear, the worst part of enhance is killing stuff so efficiently and quickly I personally feel like I have to rush to find a mob to blow a proc on LOL.
Shaman is slower to start out with especially if you don’t have all heirlooms gear but gets fast after level 45.
At max level Ele is a very fast spec . Enh is slower and has always been that way.
Ah ok. Good to know. I was debating on if I should just stick with it since it’s level 22 and my warrior is only 12.
Play Ele if you want to stick with Shaman. Enh will always have ‘gaps’ , small ones but if that bothers you play Ele.
Of course Rogues , Warriors , DH etc are all super fast specs .
Lease you aren’t pressing only 2 buttons as a healer here than in XIV lol.
I have played Warriors, Death knights and Paladins.
I find all three kinda clunky to play. The reason is the resource they all use to allow spells to be used. I often find my self waiting some seconds for something to get to a high enough level for my spells to become usable. I have died many a time waiting for this stuff to proc.
Some have suggested a talent can be used to combat this issue. I find on all three that there are none on all three classes.
There is one class that does not have this issue. I am not going to say what it is in fear that Blizzard will nerf it. Remember they are in the business of killing fun.
Lets just say I have one and it is very fun to play.
All MMOs start slow. Same with WoW, it will pick up at later levels, don’t worry mate.
You mean Glare and last time I checked that was 1 button. Just kidding i know what you mean.
no. you don’t have the tool kit on any class to be able to decide if you like to class or not. wow is very new played unfriendly
Well then I may just try them all again.
Good thing I am not one of those players that delete on the first death.
I have always found combat slower at lower levels. Always struggling to fill global cooldowns until you get enough abilities to actually build a rotation. Some classes are better at this than others.
There’s 2 big factors at play here:
-
Some Specs have Clunky Leveling
Shaman and Arms Warrior have Slightly Clunky leveling: Specifically the Enhancement specialization of shaman is reliant on a lot of its later abilities to fill in the “empty space” in its rotation. Arms is pretty reliant on them too.
Once you get to higher levels, Enhancement Shaman is mixing between Melee Attacks with short cooldowns, and Hard hitting instant cast spells. So you have a little downtime, but not much.
TL;DR. You’re missing important abiliites that make your specialization “Work” So it feels clunky for now. -
Gear Matters a lot:
A lot of specs in this game require better gear, and sometimes legendary effects to “feel” really good. One very important stat in this case is Haste. Which decreases the wait time between your Auto attacks, and shortens the cooldown of most abilities, as well as increasing spellcasting speed.
So, you’re playing a low level character that doesn’t have most of his abilities, and your gear is probably pretty terrible for now.
So yeah, your class is gonna feel a little janky.
I’m happy to help with advice if you need it.
I don’t get how people think it gets easier to kill anything at higher levels. Everything scales with you. It’s always the same. And in SL, it’s actually even slower.
