inb4 “You don’t need more than 10 characters dude… there are plenty of slots as it is”
Everyone has a preference. I just would only love to have a single extra character slot, I’m no advocate for Retail’s 50 character realm limit they implemented with Shadowlands. It’s already 50 per account so that’s convenient to have all 50 on one server if that’s what you wish.
In Classic that would just be kind of stupid. I’d imagine there will be maybe 1 or 2 extra character slots coming right?
I think they did in TBC so they should again.
Likely?
…why would they NOT want people to roll up more characters and enjoy the game?
Its 2021, in the middle of a pandemic, for god’s sake.
Increase the limit by 20 / server.

Yeah, there’s only 9 Classes LOL
This is incorrect. Here’s a thread from MMO Champion in 2009 when people are talking about the same issue. The character limit was 10 from vanilla through wrath.

That being said I’d be down to have more than 10 toons per realm.

I know multiple people that have 2-3 mages on a single server for boosting in Classic. Then they have bank alts, their main, their first 60 alt, etc.
I also specifically remember in 2007-2008 a handful of my friends had multiple characters of all the classes they played. Respec was still 50g and pve gear was not equal to pvp gear. So they’d have say 2 warlocks. 1 would be SL/SL decked in PvP gear and the other would be destro decked in PvE gear. To save on costs of changing specs multiple times a week. Hitting 10 characters on a single account is not hard.
Plus tailoring alts!
As an Altoholic, I understand this. The point of the Character slots, per Server is to match the Class Count. MoP, they upped it because 11 Classes were avail instead of 10.
EDIT: Wrath, there was only 10 Classes. MoP brought in an 11th Class.

I never had more than 50 characters, but I paid for 2 accounts for more than 10 years, just so I could have more than 10 (12?) characters on one server.
There are hundreds of “improvements” to WoW made later than TBC. ALL of them help players enjoy the game. Should we just put them all in?
If so, we shouldn’t call it TBC, should we?

Honestly, I prefer an up count on the Account, as a whole
EDIT: Starting over, on New Servers, doesn’t bother me.
If only to get people like you to quit, yes.

Some people do need 10 slots look at me i play every class and i also play certain characters only when my firends are on. My main realm is full and sadliy cant make a shammy. my horde realm is almost full also
They MOST CERTAINLY DID increase the character slots in TBC, as did they in wrath for death knights.
personally I have 9 level 60s and a bank alt with a fully paid out bank and bags… rather than delete a toon for a shaman, I am going to stop paying for this game.
It is absolutely the biggest oversight going into an expansion that wasn’t guaranteed to happen.
Why Is it not expected that I would use all of the character slots for the current content?
I fully expect a $35 fee at launch for another character slot.
My sollution, take the $15 and put it into BTC, it’s on sale right now.
