Is the AUS subscription price outrage justified?

I mean… they’re adjusting for a large USD/AUS dollar difference. Not to mention, WoW’s been around for 15 years and the subscription fee hasn’t increased once (to my knowledge).

C’mon, now.

Aussie are just mad their subscription is no longer cheaper than what Americans pay

They blame their cost of living for why they should pay less than everyone else in the world.

I’m not a business boy so dunno.

Do feel like people should sleep on things, been seeing a lot of heated impulsive reactions that I don’t see the people who’ll wait making.

Are we talking Australia or California?

Well, not by as much. It’s still slightly cheaper at the current exchange rates.

Does anyone like to see their sub price go up? Sure the increase is justified, but they probably have a right to be upset. I’m sure they will also get over it if they enjoy the game.

Yes it is.

Did they just change the sub to Australian currency there? It’s been in Canadian here in Canada for a good year or more now. It fluctuates a bit now and then because of the exchange rate but it really isn’t different from being charged in American and the bank doing the exchange.

How’s it justified ? especially to people playing classic not retail ? same service nothings changed server are average why pay more ?

This is just to cover there losses with multibox ban etc and squeeze a small market for more don’t buy shadowlands and unsub

Same thing would happen if Americans had to pay a red cent more. Justified or not, the reaction isn’t surprising.

Nah just kids who don’t understand or who don’t know what exchange rates are.

In Canada we pay whatever the current exchange is on the US price. Can’t they do that with Australia too?

Barring weird regulations, they likely could. Though, I can’t imagine it’d be any more well received.

It’d be a slightly larger increase at the current rates. Plus, there are complaints about the price increase when the CAD gets weaker relative to the USD so I’d bet the same thing would happen with the AUD.

Joke about it now but if you think this won’t be used as a staging ground to bump up prices in other regions, I have some magic beans you might be interested in.

You can’t reasonably blame Blizzard for exchange rates though. Besides, there’s been times fairly recently when the AUD has done very well against the USD.

I didn’t say I thought they were reasonable complaints but they happen. When the CAD gets stronger relative to the USD no-one seems to take issue with prices decreasing but when it gets weaker by any significant amount there’s always a few people up in arms about Blizz trying to rip them off.

I think American outrage is pretty silly.

I feel like Aussies have a better idea of how their money works.

This is why I will never understand why they changed it. Keeping it to the $15 American put everyone on a level field and no one could place blame on Blizz because of exchange rates. The only place things got weird was with time cards. Here in Canada the $30 two month card was charged in Canadian, not American so they lost a tiny bit when people used time cards in Canada and the exchange was bad.

The increase makes sense with AUD being as weak as it is globally and that is unlikely to change in the mid to long term based on current reserve bank trends.

Personally does not effect me much as the increase is tiny compared to other costs. But I am sure some people will find the cost prohibitive.
