Is the AI on Gnomish Battle Chicken ever going to be fixed?

It’s been broken since release, as far as I can tell.

When you summon it, the chicken just stands there and does nothing. It doesn’t even follow you. SOMETIMES it will attack a random nearby target.

As far as I’ve tested, the ONLY consistent way to get it to attack something, is to get physically attacked by something, and then the chicken will attack it. This makes it really hard to get it to work in dungeons or raids, since you’re not really taking physical damage there.

I’d recommend making it so that it just targets and attacks anything that you are attacking, either with spells or melee.

Well, that’s Gnomish engineering for you…

It worked properly for all of one patch then went back to being a broken piece of crap the next. Blizzards incompetence is astounding.

This game is pretty awful. Someone just uncovered yesterday that 100s of items don’t work properly, since chance on hit procs are blocked by the GCD.

I leveled Gnomish engineering all the way up to get the chicken, then dropped it and leveled Goblin all the way up. I did this precisely to get the chicken so I could use it to buff my group in raids. And then I found out the chicken is worthless and it’s been sitting in my bank unused ever since. It was entirely a waste.

Should work like the skelly from ancient cornerstone grimoire. You pop it get a skelly then swap weps and it still follows u around like a pet.

Every week I still try in hopes during raids only to be greatly disappointed :frowning:

And as soon as that mob is killed it will stand still until the duration expires.

I posted about this months ago but it’s still borked.

Bump. AI on battle chicken is still broken. How did this go through alpha/beta/release and never get noticed or fixed?

Nope. Blizzard is just fine with a broken game.

Lol I thought it was just me doing something wrong, and I never looked into it further.

I believe all pet items behave this way. I experience it a lot with my baron buddies.

No other pet summon I’ve used works like the chicken. The chicken doesn’t engage your target or move at all, it just stands in place until you drag a mob on top of it. Then itll fight normally until that mob dies. Then goes back to just standing there.

Don’t you mean “it does not do what I want it to do”? I’m not sure that counts as “broken”. And I’m pretty sure I would not call the WoW battle chicken “AI”.

Ah…if it behaves like this “since release” it isn’t broken.

But wait – maybe you mean “it behaved differently in 2005 Vanilla”. In that case maybe “broken in Classic” is reasonable to say.

I’ve been trying to get it looked at along side Guardian AI in general since Phase 1:

It behaves markedly different from how it did in Vanilla, at least to my best recollection. It has always been a bit “stupid” in how it behaved but it didn’t just freeze there and do nothing back then.

so you’re saying that a summonable battle pet is intentionally supposed to stand there and do nothing, not even follow the player?

ok

I’ve tried to forcefully trigger guardians into offensive mode, i.e. run into Cthun, literally run into his body, pop Arcanite Dragonling and Gnomish Battle Chicken. And they both just stood there or followed by my side.

It’s stupid and has been bugged since Phase 1. I’m starting to wonder since stupid alterations like this were captured off the reference client, much like how Cthun’s laser was a gaff, if Guardian AI was screwed up as well.

It makes me wonder just how accurate the “reference client” is really.

I actually spent a rough time in Phase1 and 2 with the crazy wpvp farming the Timbermaw trinket thinking it’d work like it works in TBC. Where it’ll actually summon and attack if you’re attacking a target.

What a waste of my time :frowning: It only attacks if I’m being attacked…at least sometimes. Sometimes even if I’m being attacked it’ll still just stand there. It always heals at least. So that’s something, right? -,-
