internet is vague and all over the place. Some information say its between 330 to 260 points dending on the team format you are running, while others say 5000.
With the cost of many pvp items being 500 to 700 ap… that 330 to 260 a week seems ridiculous.
There is no cap to points per week. You get points on server reset based off your team rating from the week prior. The highest you can get is around 1500 points in one reset but that’s a very high rated team. The 5000 is the cap for how many arena points you can have at once, similar to the 75,000 honor cap.
You get WAY more than 200-300 ap/ week
There most certainly is a cap to arena points per week. You even said it. 
its 1500 points which can be gained from 2500 rating in 2s/3s or 1600 rating in 5s.
