Is tbc where feral dps was super confusing

I forget the expansion it finally got good

I’m not 100% sure, but I doubt it’s much more difficult than it is now in Classic.

I’m pretty sure you just maintain the mangle debuff and shred until you can 5 point rip. Things are a little up in the air right now b/c power-shifting was nerfed by 20 energy. So I don’t know if the rotation is exactly the same where your shifts generally come after every two abilities (EX. of a made up rotation not accounting for mangle uptime: mangle–shred–shift–shred–shred–shift–shred–rip), or the shifts come somewhere different now. Because if the pattern stays the same we will be waiting longer between shifts. I have a feeling the pattern will stay the same. More shifting would be really mana intensive, and I don’t have mana problems really with this pattern.

I saw Scottjaye suggested that we occasionally wait for a energy tick and weave rake into the rotation if say your at like at 15 energy, but I don’t think that’s conclusive.

Here’s a little more in depth explanation h.ttps://tbc.wowhead.com/guides/feral-druid-dps-rotation-abilities-burning-crusade-classic

It is operating off the premise that we shift in with 80 energy, which is not the case anymore though.

Take the period after the H out in that link.

No, that was WOTLK. But the latest nerfs to feral may make the rotation more convoluted than it otherwise would have been (at least based on what I’ve seen people theory crafting in the druid discord).

Wrath is when feral DPS got better, but also less fun to play. Had to keep up savage roar (similar to how slice and dice works for rogue) which for me anyway, completed ruined cat dps. Power shifting got removed due to how energy works.

Feral Kitty is sadly not in a good place in TBC. Bottom tier dps and that comes with one of the more demanding rotations. Couple the fact a lvl 40 helmet is required and it really is a bit of a mess. It does get better in LK though.
