Correct me if im wrong, but tank parses are all just based on damage output correct? you’d think they would be able to implement a different methodology behind tank parses that would include threat gen/mitigation/etc… seems like the meta for tanking always comes down to damage output as that is where the orange parses come from.
Tank parsing check actions per minute and gear. Someone in impressive gear usually correlates to higher skill too.
I don’t know why tanks would care about parsing. It’s not showing threat points.

Well tanks can be measured in different ways.
The best tanks are the speedrunners. They hold the most threat with the least mitigation and do it the fastest with the most dpsers doing the most dps. They play with the most elite players who want them.
So if you want to compete as a tank just go for the fastest clear times.
The second tier of tank I recommend high actions per minute.
The third tier of tank I would look at gearscore and build theory, including talent choices.
Lastly I would look at mitigation and attack stats.
You can also compare two people’s abilities used and see who’s got a brain.
Tank parsing has always been a meme, it’s a game too see how much dmg you can squeeze out w/o getting oneshot.

Seeing how tanks actually get denied into groups because of their parses, I don’t blame meta tanks for wearing Irradiated gear.
You care because it affects your raid. If you’re a tank and you don’t die to the boss. What else should you be doing. Damage.
Tank parsing and parsing in general is a reflection of your raid group running on the edge. It’s creating competitive content out of something that’s not competitive.
For all iterations of Wow in any competitive setting, parsing, speed running, boss kill times etc. if your tank wasn’t building for damage, he’s griefing.

Tank as well as healer parses are dumb and so are the people that take them serious.
Unfortunately I learned the hard way there is DPS parce and that’s all healing and tank and meme and don’t actually work or measure rank or skill
lvl 50 warrior tanks are gonna get healing parses with diamond flask swap sets.
Those are the parses that really matter
same goes for dps. no1 cares about dps parses, you can clear gnomer with a full raid of gray parsers if you bring enough WB’s/consumes. parsing in general is a meme and should not be take any serious.

It does because it effects you’re entire raids parse. Ding dong.
It’s a mini game within a game. People are competitive by nature and that’s fine. There’s no difficult content in the game so we the player base create the environment for competition.
the Effective Health Theory says that tanks don’t want to hope they’re not hit. They want to be hit and live.
whole point of this is that, yes - tanking parsing is a meme but only because it seems to just look at your damage output… if it were calculated in a way that looked at other metrics (mitigation or whatever), then it would actually give something to compare against other tanks rather than just damage.
It checks damage done. The ideal outcome of tanking is being strong enough to just hold threat as DPS.
