Is sylvanas actually enslaving the undead now?

I just get the feeling since she raised the dead outside the gate of the undercity and now the night elves she reanimated fighting against their former allies…

I think shes gone full blown necro. I dont know how she accomplished this lore wise but I think shes being empowered by something beyond her normal weird powers. No matter how I spin it, I cant think of any other reason why the night elves would fight for her. None of the old forsaken operated this way… something is just different

Yes. She is the Lich Queen, and must be put down. The Wardens are watching. :alien:

She turned into a lite version of the Lich King long ago but the fans don’t want to hear it

She’s raised undead and tortured them to her submission and is turning night elves into undead and forcing them to fight their allies

i’m surprised she hasn’t gone for the death knights yet.

Death knights are the top tier of undead. They’re not that easy to dominate.

Raising the dead actually isn’t that hard. Any necromancer worth their salt can do it. But only special beings such as the val’kyr can raise free willed undead. Anything Sylvanas herself brings to unlife is enslaved to her will. It is kind of an ironic twist of fate. She’s become the thing she hated most.

As for the night elves, there sort of is a reason. We saw earlier on that some of them were already questioning Elune and having major doubts about their faith. Undeath also tends to darken one’s emotions. So probably not hard to turn them.

Turning against Elune, I can accept.

Turning against Tyrande and skulking off into the woods, I can accept.

Joining the same people who burned down your civilization and helping them finish their act of genocide is NOT something I can accept.

After I did the battle of lordearon, I was so ashamed of being a member of the horde, I quite playing my toon and played my alliance toons. Burning the tree, killing thousands of innocents, starting the war and then using biological/chemical warfare, raising the dead to become your mindless servant army (like the evil lich king!). I don’t care for the story of horde vs alliance right now, doesn’t make sense for me.

You give Danuser’s writing far, far too much credit.

I was a night elf for 7 years. If I can’t be happy, neither can you! Innocence and naivete, begone! :alien:

No. Sylvanas has no ability to magically enslave people which is why she has to use torture.

Sometimes undead will be raised and they are very different people. They become stupid, blood thirsty, or their former personalities change in various other ways.

This is untrue. We have seen several valk resurrections this expansion they can be confused and sometimes enraged or sad but they always have their own will. Special steps are not needed to give them free will.

Which is why torture is needed for Derek instead of just commanding him to kill his family.

I can understand this, ive been playing my dwarf monk more and more. I just dont like the the direction the horde story is taking. I understand that is their goal, as stories are supposed to make you feel something, but in an mmo where stories take months and years to unravel it is upsetting

Rule of Cool be damned. The “writing” ignores all that has come before it.

"Hey Major {Me}, you’re going to betray your country because it’s the ‘cool’ thing to do right now.

“Ermmm, what are you doing?”

Me: “Figuring out which pistol I’m gonna shoot you with”

Sooner or later, and quite frankly I prefer soon, there has to be SOME consistency to this “story”.

SOME.

Ignoring in-game quests, loot, dungeons, allowing them zones to languish for a decade is one thing.

But established characters acting against ESTABLISHED lore is quite another. Turning every Horde leader into a milksop is not “cool”.

IT.IS.BAD.WRITING.

BAD

I can’t play night elves anymore because I can’t justify “muh Kul Tiras problems” (even though I love Kul Tiras) when the night elves are on the edge of extinction. I feel your pain.

I imagine in my headcanon that my night elf hunter never became a gnome, but that they had been friends for years and their ways of thinking had rubbed off on each other. Gives me an excuse as to why I used this transmog and engi gadgets as a night elf, too. :man_shrugging:

I think she is enslaving them. When playing my Alliance alt the other day, I killed a Forsaken Keenblade in Stormsong Valley. What did she say when she died? Unironically, “Thank you.”

Plague Master Herbert in the Nazmir invasion is also most grateful when you put him down. He mentions his hopes of “staying dead” this time.
