Swearing is against the rules (no matter which chat channel it is in), people can and may report you if you do it too much regardless of the language filter.

Looks like the in-game code of conduct disagrees with you.
The profanity filter exists to protect people from obscene language, not there to give you leeway with your colorful metaphors.

Honestly, do you really think anybody follows that? In the 15 years this game has existed do you REALLY think anybody has ever considered following that?
If they actually actioned for language 99% of oceanic realms playerbase would be banned.
I’ve personally never seen someone get silenced/suspended/banned for language unless it was serious harrassment or the N word.

Now his argument has changed from “It’s not really against the rules” to “Well, OK, it is against the rules, but it’s not enforced.”
You can disable the profanity filter in settings somewhere if you want to, I don’t remember where offhand but it’s in there.
No, it’s not. People will argue that the profanity filter is there and that makes it ok, but that’s not actually how it works. Filtered or not it’s still against the rules to swear in public chat channels, and doing so CAN get you in trouble if someone reports you. People do it all the time, but that doesn’t mean that it’s actually allowed.

If you manage to bother enough people to the point of reporting you, you can get chat suspensions and such for it (and the length of those doubles every time or something like that).
But realistically, people just don’t care about cursing enough to report it. Blatant racial slurs? Sure. Generic curse words? No.

Sure I do it all the time. It can be reported but no one has reported me yet. So technically no but if your realm has a bunch of Karens maybe don’t do it.

Yeah my argument has changed because I realized it was wrong. Now I’m saying, based on my literal over a decade long experience with this game, that nobody really cares about swearing enough to bother reporting it because everyone does it.
