Is summoning an inferno in low-level zones griefing?

If a level 60 alliance warlock goes to Goldshire and summons an inferno and then releases it, allowing the inferno to run around and kill NPCs is that against the ToS?

We’ve had a bit of discussion about killing quest NPCs of the opposite faction. But what about your own faction?

It seems like it would be considering griefing would it not? Curious as to what others think.

Call it whatever you want. It’s hilarious and fun.

It’s not against the ToS.

Well it is griefing but it isn’t illegal. Probably one of those things where if you kept doing it eventually a gm would tell you to stop though

agreed haha

But for low level players there is zero way for them to play around it.

You’ve just spawned a level 60 creature in a level 5-10 zone. And the inferno doesn’t get a DHK.

It’s something I think the GMs used to “talk” to you about and say never do that again. And if you did it again then you’d be in trouble.

Yes. That’s why it’s hilarious.

Nah. They won’t stop you. It’s not an exploit and it’s not against ToS and it’s nothing more than an annoying inconvenience for low level players.

They can easily just go somewhere else.

As I understand the way it usually went is that it was only griefing if you did it to an extreme excess.

Like if you made Goldshire unusable for an entire week because you were just camping it.

So you can just go to the starting zone, summon an inferno and then have it kill new players right as they make a character?

I doubt 2019 Blizzard is going to find that funny.

It’s just about as fun as tricking level 5’s in goldshire to click the portal in the basement in goldshire only to have a doomguard pop up and kill EVERYONE

Yep. Blizzard won’t do a darn thing about it. It’s part of Classic.

And IIRC the infernal summon is on an hour cooldown and only lasts for a certain amount of time.

sounds like PVP to me.

For an alliance player to summon an infernal in an alliance area? What are they gonna do? get hordies to defend goldshire?

“Harassment, “griefing,” abusive behavior or chat, conduct intended to unreasonably undermine or disrupt the Game experiences of others, deliberate inactivity or disconnecting, and/or any other activity which violates Blizzard’s Code of Conduct or In-Game Policies.”

I think it’s pretty unreasonable to ask level 1s or level 5s to kill a level 60 monster.

Who cares if it’s griefing? PvP is allowed.

You’re doing it to your own faction.

Get on their 60s and kill the infernal, or ask other people to, or just run from it.

Some lowbies will die but it’s not like it completely cripples you. They can’t control the infernal.

These are the things that make older iterations of WoW amazing. People who dislike this kind of stuff don’t like old WoW
