Does Stomp count at as a pet ability for the 30% damage increase?
No, Aspect of the Beast affects “Basic Attacks”. That’s specifically Claw, Smack or Bite, nothing else.
Ah, thank you for the clarification.
It says “Increases the damage of your pets abilities” that is pretty much all pet damage, so yes that would include stomp
Is there any math to support either of the statements you guys gave? Seems there’s some conflicting statements here.
i just went looking though some of the tooltips in game. Stomp is not a pet ability, its an ability done by your pet that your trigger. The game treats them different so kill command and stomp are not included. Auto attacks and basic attacks are what is included.
Alright thanks for the clarification.
one other note. If using a spirit beast it does increase that heal 30%, keep that in mind.
Just confirmed this on the beta against a target dummy. Aspect of the Beast does affect pet basic attacks (Claw, Bite, Smack). Aspect of the Beast does not affect pet auto-attacks, Kill Command or Stomp. As a result, it affects about half of Beast Cleave (since Beast Cleave cleaves both pet regular melee swings and their basic attacks).
I did not test Spirit Mend (because the premades don’t have a Spirit Beast and I’m too lazy to copy over my live hunter), but I know that Spirit Mend already scales with Aspect of the Beast on live, so I suspect it almost definitely does in SL as well.
Edit: for the sake of science, I also tested the new Bloodshed. It does affect both Stomp and Kill Command damage while active.
Stomp is not a pet ability. Pet abilities are the ones that appear in the pet tab of the spellbook, and you can pull into the pet bar instead of your own.
Technically Aspect of the Beast affects other pet abilities, but there are literally are no other damaging abilities among them aside from Basic Attacks.
I had not considered Spirit Mend since it’s a heal, but Xaedys is right, it does affect it.
It also affects the damage of the worm and chimaera channeled attacks. Not that that makes them worth using, but it does affect their damage.
LOL, right, I forgot those exist because they’re a dps loss to use. So it affects all sorts of random useless abilities. I just googled it an wowhead says the aura affects abilities like Updraft and Nether Shock, which doesn’t even make sense xD
It buffs damage and healing of abilities that don’t damage or heal. Fantastic.
30% better water walking!
I might get on the ptr tomorrow to test bloodshed, it might replace aspect of the beast.
