I’ve noticed on the Forbidden Reach that all my maps heavily favor my faction. I have yet to lose a single boss to Horde, and I’ve managed to steal plenty because a huge Alliance zerg shows up, outnumbers the Horde, and wins.
Yet the buff suggests Horde should outnumber Alliance, since Alliance have a 15% bonus while Horde have 10%.
Am I getting obscenely “lucky” with my maps this past week? Or is something wrong with how shards are balancing factions in the Forbidden Reach or elsewhere?

this is rather something really wrong with the competence of Blizzard developers

I’m an avid war mode player and World PVP is my life, The Reason shards are so imbalanced is because people join other raid groups to do the content. So if someone starts a group for rares on Realm A. then realm A. will steal from realms B-Z into all of A.
So when you log on realms B-Z you see a lot less people 0 if any.
It’s because it’s so easy to shard hop with LFG.
Its broken, has been for a long time. Its so easy for Alliance on my servers that even lots of Alliance with no pvp gear go in for the 15%. If they adjusted the bonus to the number of people playing WM then maybe they would attract more Horde to WM.

You wont get a response from Blizz. WPvP died when they introduced Warmode. My entire wpvp guild quit in BfA due to this change and Blizzard has been very anti-war for a while now and has no desire to cater to a group of people who have pretty much all left WoW already due to the lack of content/care/systems for wpvp. Blizz has made many changes to the game to hurt wpvp like Warmode and Sharding.
WPvP community is pretty much non-existant now due to neglect for too many years. They’ve all moved on to different games that provide what they’re looking for (Like Albion or Black Desert)

Not even sure if there’s the façade of population balancing on shards currently. It’s either 90% alliance or 90% horde, and then it’s reinforced self-selection due to the forming of groups.
Groups are a necessary feature of World PvP, of course, since the game isn’t “balanced around 1v1” let alone 1 vs the world.
All of the regions are meticulously built with great craftsmanship, but there’s a clear lack of anything resembling PvP concerns with many of the regions. This is very apparent with the Primalist’s Future and Forgotten Reach outdoor areas. Primalist’s Future, the graveyard respawn is instant facilitating endless zerging utterly ensuring that “quantity and perseverance are the true only qualities”, and the Forgotten Reach has the PvP crate dropping 3ft away from the only town

I’m turning War mode off for good today. Since turning it on, I’ve encountered 99% alliance (enemy faction) literally wherever I go. Frankly, it’s BS. It’s not fun, I have no chance in hell at actually having meaningful PVP experiences, nor the RNG that comes with the mode that I often enjoyed historically. I don’t mind getting killed, I do mind never standing a chance, no matter the time of day or zone. Screw this.

This.
We don’t care about world pvp anymore because the company doesn’t care. Oh well, it’s their loss.
