Is Solo shuffle a reality check for healers?

Asking for a mate.

only reality check is how bad healing mmr is. if anything id say it’s more of a reality check for the dps players with hundreds of rounds played hardstuck at rival because they have 0 awareness of what to do actually do

im getting 2k on dps classes in less than 60 rounds, meanwhile it takes me 3x that to get it on a healer, and that’s maining healer for the last 3 expansions

easy to win games early on if you can do damage since low cr healers cant heal through it

not easy to win games early on if you can heal through damage but your team can’t output it or press defensives

only hyper carry cc healers can really get out of low mmr easily imo (druid clones for example)

I remember when introducing new people to PvP I would tell them to start healer.

Now they have shifted the landscape of PvP.

Being a damage dealer is much easier than healing.

So we have no healers because the most important role should be the easiest.

Harumph.

I think shuffle is a wake up call for a lot of people, all roles included. It’s also very meme-y and has to be taken with a grain of salt.

That said, it’s still an example of how poorly people play when things don’t go their way or follow the script. It may not help you with tight timings and set ups as much but it does require more awareness I’d say in some circumstances since you’re not in voice and have to look for the set ups instead of pre planning it ahead of time. With how crazy people position it’s also important to place yourself in the best spot for the current situation despite it not being the best textbook spot normally.

Healer mmr makes rating alone (compared to dps) not a fair comparison BUT when compared to other healers, it’s still important to realize there’s many people higher than you and that means there’s something they’re doing you’re not. (You being any healer this may apply to)

If Blizzard wants more healers, they should let healers gain rating more easily than DPS.

Right now, people get the elite rewards much more easily as a DPS. What do you think they’re going to play?

This is a game for 95% of it’s base, not a job or source of income. It’s a hobby. It’s meant to be a source of fun. If healing is miserable and not fun, and playing a dps spec is fun, why bother healing? All the other excuses are just that, excuses. Healing in general blows now. Its been this way for 2 expansions now. I don’t enjoy healing bg’s anymore either. From Vanilla to Legion, healing was my main role. I always had every healer maxed in gear and played them all. I preferred healing. Now I can’t stand healing. We need to back up and figure out what happened and fix it. Because until we do, no amount of cheesy “incentives” are gonna lure players into the role again in pvp. I have my own personal reasons that I feel ruined the healing experience. For me it’s easy, the games pacing. The game got way too fast. Damage is too spikey. You can die in a global to a lot of specs. It was worse last expansion.

Rewind all the dumb changes. Micro cc out the yinyang is garbage. Make 1 cc per spec impactful again. 6 seconds on average. Trim out all the added crap. Lower dps to normal levels. If you make cc impactful, you wont need bonkers dps to kill players, just coordination. I’ve always felt Wrath had the best balance in this way.

Healers went from being extremely tanky overlords to actually having to heal and then dps got a heap of healing/defensives.

A healer should be really hard to kill. Why do you think everybody gravitated to those specs? Healing was the one pvp role you could play in bg’s where you felt powerful. Now nobody wants to play a healer in bg’s. Imagine why that is? Arena doesn’t feel any better.

shuffles made me aware of how well i know this game. i can walk to 2.1-2.4 on dps classes if i feel like sitting through the queue. beyond that with how busy i am it’s not even worth pressing it as waits are too long. take this season for example, the tabard is wack so not even worth pressing queue beyond the weapon enchant. no mount no reason to. and honestly, getting a healer to 1800 is more work than getting a dps to 2.1k

overall its a fun game mode but its a bit of a meme and i may skip shuffle entirely next season and opt to finally try to find people to play with in the 3s bracket. i really miss it, haven’t really played 3s since slands season 2 (beyond 0 cr queues for quick conq) and i just miss playing in comms and going over wins/losses with like minded individuals.

maybe next season i make the return and try to push the real ladder again

The game doesn’t need to be slowed down any more. Healing and defensives are already really powerful and with this being the least crowd control the game has ever had it enables people to live forever.

I feel way more powerful healing bgs in this expansion than I do in wrath. On retail I can solo win bgs while livelording 50 mill healing done but on wrath if one person with an ms and 1 more dps can easily kill you with very little you can do about it meanwhile im facetanking 6 people at the same time on retail.

But to be fair if im being ignored in a wrath bg freecasting holy lights then my team is unkillable while I have a mana bar

Healing shuffle can be really cringe but usually im duelist on a healer the same day i hit 70 with just how bad the competition is sub 2k. Most solo shuffle healers have no clue how to proactively trade cooldowns or have the correct positioning for the situation they are in which makes it really easy to climb as a healer all the way to 2400 if you know what you are doing. Actually shuffling on dps this season really opened my eyes to how bad most healers are.

The whole concept of SS is anti-healer. One bad DPS or one really good DPS and your matches are going to go 3-3 as a healer every time. The only way to gain rating as a healer in SS is to exponentially outplay the other healer. It makes no sense.

Solo shuffle is garbage and unfun.
So I just don’t play it.

If Absterge is stuck in the 2200s/2300s for a while, you know it’s tough to gain rating as a healer.

He played a ret pally alt without seriously trying, and it easily surpassed all of his healing toons.

He was never stuck in the 2200s to 2300s

Guess you didn’t see him when he was trying to hit 2400 on a disc priest.

:confounded: :confounded: :rage:

you said “as a healer”. Every other healer he got 2500cr in less than 100 rounds

You sure about this?
