So i never Post on the forums. But today i specifically logged into the forums to ask a serious question that i think everyone wants to know.
So i love SOD , i think its innovative and Different and i genuinely love everything about it.
The runes are cool and it leaves the room for lots of experimentation and has allowed me to run Classic (Especially with the AI voice addon) it makes it feel like a brand new game.
My problem is i dont want to invest a ton of time into it, if its just going to get erased in favor of the re release of regular classic.
SOD is a time sink and as much as I try to immerse myself its harder with the looming concern that its not going to be evergreen.
So with all that being said can we get a straight forward answer?
Is Season of discovery going to be a new classic plus or are we going to see it vanish with no future updates?
If its going to just get deleted or only here for a little while longer then im not going to just waste my time with it.
But if we get an answer i feel like i could really enjoy it because its just what im personally looking for. I like retail but its become so hectic that i cant play it for too long at a time.
The exploration and community in SOD is top tier but as i said before id rather not waste progress i could be making either in retail or other games. Because SOD and the Time running events are honestly whats really keeping me here.
Shout out to blizzard for Legion Time running because i absolutely cannot wait.
I really think that its definitely something new and more of a slow pace that i like with classic , but i cant enjoy the game if its just going to get deleted.
Any thoughts or answers would be greatly appreciated! Especially from Blizzard let us know if SOD is here to stay !

They said that sod IS here to stay and keep trying new things.
In the other hand every thing you have done in classic relaunch is almost lost or Will be moved into retail (i expect for sod characters in a future). So, dont worry

So was it annouced by blizzard that it was going to be kept ? Or was there a blue post about it that i missed because i know people who wont bother with it because of this concern .

I read last year that we’d get to keep our characters, on the Realms/servers we’re on?

I agree with OP. Iwill not invest much time if I know SOD will not turn into classic + or if all of our progression will be wiped.

They’ve already answered this in two interviews. One in December not long after SoD was released, and one around April/May
SoD is more or less a beta for Classic+
Phase 7 is the final phase.
SoD= Season of Discovery. Ergo, Season (temporary), of Discovery (what works). It’s a beta.
They’ve already said that your character can transer to those official server, unlike what happoened to SoM characters. To whatever capacity, however, is unknown.

They never said anything about phase 7 being the final phase. Get your facts straight first.

Last I heard SOD wasnt ending, in fact they did mention they could see more stuff being added in the future.

Same. S7 is supposed to bring Naxx then they hinted/showed a picture of a Scarlett raid, presumably S8.

Since when? Ive been following all of the news for SOD. NOT ONCE have they said that they are keeping it. And also I genuineley dont appreciate the attack. I have paid attention and im just trying to enjoy their game.

I doubt they will scrap SOD because I believe there are a lot of subscribers that only play SOD and would not start on retail or fresh or era etc if it ended. I’m one of them.
I could see them continuing to make adjustments with SOD until they’ve perfected it and then making a SOD fresh that would eventually merge with SOD.

I’m having a lot of fun leveling new classes. but I agree with you.
I’d like some feedback as we are getting to the end of the content for traditional classic. Will Sod move to TBC or what? Will there be new classes and content patches past Naxx?

Kind of in the same boat. I would like to put more effort into SoD. But until they give a definitive answer, I wont play it. The idea of getting to 60 for one or two phases is more than a waste of time.
To me this feels like a ARPG season. Sure my time and character will eventually mean nothing but im enjoying my time here right now and when it ends i will roll on the next season if I like the gimmick.
If you enjoyed it, it was never a waste of time.

If it wasn’t ending, why did they put the term Season in it? Don’t get me wrong, i think this is the greatest version out of all of vanilla, but I really hate and despise that word. It is an indicator that is not going to last forever.
The devs said it last time they there being ask some questions online. Its not us making believe and hoping. Its been said by the devs.
