Hey, took a break from the game and just came back I decided to level a new character and am leveling a Warrior and am enjoying the Fury spec. I have a question about Slam though.
Slam just seems like a filler ability that you either have to invest points into just to make it “meh” or just use to waste rage when you could be using that rage on better abilities… Am I way off here though? I am to the point where I am considering just dropping it off my bar and pretending like it does not exist but thought I would check here first and see if that was a stupid idea, and if so why.

Yeah it can be a little confusing. Slam is solely used for Arms at max level. Fury doesn’t use it because fury generally only wants to spend rage on rampage. Fury only uses it if they talent into storm of swords (bottom left of fury’s spec tree). Storm of swords makes slam generate rage instead of spending it.
I have never leveled a warrior in DF with the new talent trees, so slam might be worth using until you get rampage in the spec tree. But just compare tool tips to bloodthirst and raging blow. You might use slam since slam doesn’t have a cd, where bloodthirst and raging blow do.
Hope that helps
In Shadowlands, they added some talents into the class spell book that were once just used by specs, like slam for arms, and shield slam and shield block for prot. They did this because you don’t choose your specialization until you reach level 10, so you kind of play a hybrid warrior until then.
Cool thx man, that is what it seemed like but you know how it is when playing a new class sometimes something you thought sucked was crazy good for some weird reason you did not understand haha. appreciate the response.

I used slam very rarely as fury with the DF s3 tier set. Other than that it’s been many years since slam had any use for fury that I can remember.
Yeah Season 3 was the exception because you primarily played storm of swords and annihilator. Annihilator replaces Raging blow (a rotational spell), with increased auto attack damage, and then storm of swords makes slam generate rage instead of spending it, buffs slam and whirlwind damage, while also giving both slam and whirlwind a CD in return. So essentially slam replaced raging blow more or less in that build.
Annihilator and storm of swords will be removed in the next expansion so slam will likely not be played. There is a chance slam will be played in ST builds as a filler replacement for whirlwind, from what a warrior theory crafter said, since slam was changed to no longer spend or generate rage for fury and it deals more damage than whirlwind.
I’d recommend getting Rampage as soon as you can in the spec tree as you level up, because it is fundamental to fury’s playstyle.
