Looking at all the changes to professions. How many consumables are locked to lvl 50 and lower. The cleave target cap. It all seems to point to SL being a big push for everything to be centered around Mythic+ and Mythic+ esports.
I miss the days of just logging in and casually running some Heroics with my guild for a few badges towards a nice piece of gear. Maybe I’m just old and over the hill, but I liked that system.
I don’t think so because Ion specifically said “mass pulling is a degenerate playstyle” they wanted to curb it. Which is why they put the aoe caps in. Now where do you see mass pulling? Mythic+
From what I can tell about how it works it seems as though they are locking a bunch of stuff so that you are forced to use whatever they give you in SL as potions/profs. Basically they do not want you to use your garrison to get stuff done anymore.
Yes, but they are going against mass pulling. Is your question: Are they making changes in SL because of M+? Because I thought it was something like: Are they designing SL primarily with Mythic+ players in mind?
Looks like it is designed around mythic raiding. And if so, they’ll lose more players. Catering to the 1-2% of players doesn’t seem to be a good strategy. It’s a bold move, cotton. Let’s see how it plays out.
SL is no more “raid or die” than 8.3 has been.
I’m not sure why people think it is, just think about how important itemisation is in the game and look at Mythic raiding.
You get like 1 piece for each slot with a set stat combination and no choice yet M+ and PvP both have 3+ stat combinations for every single item slot. The majority of your “BiS” items are going to be from M+ and PvP especially if you have vers as one of your better stats.
There is also nothing different with the cache rewards from 8.3 and SL, except for the actual buffs which make it better for M+ as well such as only requiring a 14 instead of 15 as well as the potential of more choices. Both 8.3 and SL both reward mythic ilvl from the cache, that doesn’t change, your highest ilvl is available in the same quantity at the same rate
Speaking from my own experience, I stopped doing heroic dungeons on the daily when I couldn’t randomly get achievements with a complete group of randos. They’re mythic-only now and have been for two expacs. I liked the sense of the unknown, the luck of the draw as it were. but now! there’s literally no reason to run anything other than a mythic dungeon.
I do not think It is designed around either M+ or Mythic raids . Regarding profession its to get you to buy SL and stay in SL. Regarding Aoe cap- its there to prolong the playtime hour by hour , day by day .
Badges were bad for Blizzard because you had a definite goal and replay-ability just wouldn’t be the same without an RNG loot box.
