I am going Shaman purely for Ele in PvP since they are insanely fun, I plan on doing PvE also and although I want to go Ele i’m told that it’s garbage damage wise and people will pass up on me.
But then I got conflicting info that Enhancement is supposed to be one of the S tier dps specs in PvE, which is weird because some lists have enhancement on the lowest and some have it on the highest.
So how exactly does Shaman do in WoTLK as Ele/Enh? Will I be able to compete with Rogues/Warr/Mages on the meters?
Is Shaman viable in WoTLK?
no, they stop being invited or played in Wrath. They’re worthless.

That’s a pretty bad answer. First ele is busted in pvp. Next ele is fine in pve and saying they’re not implies you’re doing mythic level content. You’ll be totally fine with at least one ele in a raid

So my other option was Druid, I primarily was looking at Feral Cat DPS. How do they perform in PvE/PvP vs. Enhance/Ele in both WoTLK and TBC?
Feral is regarded as the toughest spec to play.

They’re strong as hell in 3s and BGs, terrible in 1v1 and most 2s. 3s are most important so they’re considered one of the best PvP specs

Yes, not only is it really low on the damage charts, your main thing you bring to raid (Totem of Wrath) does not stack with Demonology Warlock’s superior buff, thus further invalidating their spot
But then I got conflicting info that Enhancement is supposed to be one of the S tier dps specs in PvE
This is still speculation, they aren’t wanted in basically any raid or guild on PServers. A lot of Fight Club is playing Enhance in TBC and it’s encouraging some bias research. Enhance isn’t needed for any specific buffs and it’s not top DPS, it’s just good DPS and it’s fun as hell to play. The main reason people are trying to justify it is because Ele sucks in PvE and people want to axe the RSham spot for an extra DPS, and you need at least 1 Sham, making Enh the best choice (If you do actually axe the RSham)
So how exactly does Shaman do in WoTLK as Ele/Enh?
As Ele you’ll nuke in PvP to comical levels. As Enhance you’ll be pretty good in all tiers of PvE content. Both do roughly the same amount of AoE. Yes Enh Totem Twisting is roughly the same overall as Ele’s AoE.
Will I be able to compete with Rogues/Warr/Mages on the meters?
Yes. Mage isn’t S-Tier right away, it picks up after Warlocks stop being king post-Ulduar. Warrior mainly shine in ICC. Rogue is great all of Wrath. You likely won’t beat rogues, but you’ll compete/beat Mage/Warrior most of the expac, and in ICC you really aren’t that far behind.

No one is axing the RShams. They’re the best out of all 3 shaman specs, and the best raid healers by far. If you’re replacing a healer slot, you’d be replacing a different healer for a better DPS than Enhancement. The Rsham brings all your shaman needs without sacrificing anything. Enhancement is sub-par and is barely ahead of Elemental at all tiers.
I’m not saying I’m doing it. I’m saying it’s what the current sweat meta is trying to justify for more DPS.
I’ve played PServers for years and have never purposely recruited an Enhance, as fun as they are. Only Resto
Do Feral Cats have a raid spot usually? And where do they fall on the meters compared to the other popular classes like Rogue?
1, maybe 2 feral cats. Feral can be top #1 DPS easily if skilled enough.
idk why the current sweat meta would advocate for mediocrity then lmao unless… they find Enhance fun… and want to play Enhance… which they could have done all along by not being sweat metas. They don’t need to lie to themselves about Enhancement being anything above B-tier at best tho, Wrath isn’t hard and it doesn’t need meta-game play.

Yes, Cats are good most of Wrath and S-Tier in ICC. Issue is, Fury brings their buff and cat is considered “Difficult” when it really isn’t, so you’ll see a lot of bad cats creating bad stigma for the spec

Shaman have melee like warrior, spells like mage and heals like priest!!!
why does blizz keep giving other classes ALL OF WARRIOR ABILITIES!?
Everything is viable and even competitive in wrath. Play what you want and don’t worry about what tier a website lists for your build. You’ll be fine.
“Well I was told that same thing before TBC so I rolled a Rogue and proceeded to get passed up by most groups”
-Burning crusade is not wrath. If you play a rogue in wrath you’ll be just fine. Assassination is actually highly competitive.

-Thanks. My work is rarely appreciated around here.
Well I was told that same thing before TBC so I rolled a Rogue and proceeded to get passed up by most groups as they would rather follow a tier list a website put up, but I do agree that people should play with they want.
I might stick with Feral and see how it goes
