I got a priest at lvl 50 and wanted to tey out shadow, i also main arcane mage just recently and fury warrior. Is shadow priest a fun class?
It’s a fun class, but be warned it’s a difficult class to play. Aoe wise it’s great, but single target, still haven’t figured it out, because 30K dps single target is trash dps and i’m not even talking about raid ST. Arcane mage is doing great dps and is easier to play.
Fury warrior is also a fun, easy, great dps to play.
single target will make you cry. Sustain aoe is nice though when things line up around shadowcrash.

Shadow is passable if you like playing WoW just for playing WoW. If you enjoy cohesive design and gameplay then shadow is probably the worst spec in the game - it’s the most immobile class in the game, has below average defensives, next to no group utility, and has its damage more easily disrupted than almost all (or potentially all) other classes. And as is tradition for shadow, it is extremely gear and stat dependent and will have far above average variance in performance depending on your secondary stats.
Both arcane and fury are very cohesive, nicely designed classes and shadow hasn’t left the brainstorming whiteboard. If random internet opinions have any value, mine is that shadow isn’t worth playing in Dragonflight at all unless it gets a ground-up redesign.
The stock answer is “fun is subjective”
If you like DoT classes you might enjoy it. If you like being able to heal or dps you might like it.
It’s not in the best spot atm, single target numbers could be better and there’s some valid concerns over it’s insanity generation. But we have competitive AoE damage and our cleave is respectable.
All that said, it’s a great Class to play, competition be dammed. I love the mage warlock hybrid design of spells (some dots some direct spells). The lore is great too. It’s all about what you value most in a class. So keep playing it, if you like the spec you’ll be able to have fun regardless.

DoT classes don’t even play like DoT classes anymore.

SW:P and VT may not deal the majority of our damage, but they enable a lot of the other effects our class benefits from. Also, Devouring Plague is our main spender. A DoT. If you’re looking for pure dots, go Affliction. But DoTs still play a key role in our kit.
ST rotation build is a big priority system
Fun is subjective though so ty it out and see if it entertains you, for me it’s really fun
