Gold cap being 1k would destroy the game quicker than anything. It’s got to be trolling to even suggest it.
People would have bots set up day one to snipe epic boe’s for gold cap, they would buy them within 0.5 seconds of being posted. And since gold cap in game is only 1k, they would sell the items off the game for real money because there is no reason to relist them.

if you reach the gold cap, you can give it to alts which effectively raises the cap 10x or more, you can give it away to friends without feeling paranoid about being dinged for rmt since gold cap wiped most illegal markets out, you can spend it on fun things in-game and continue farming, I don’t see any issue here except that you simply want the cap to be increased. You could even send it to an alt and delete that alt if it really makes you feel better. If the only reason for you to play the game is to have more gold than others then this isn’t the game for you, because there is already a cap in place and your same logic applies whether it’s easily reachable or not.
what do you mean by “you’re trying to force people to never need gold” ? I read that as, “you’re trying to force me to interact with poor people on a regular basis for professions and items” or it could be read as “you’re trying to remove my customers”
explain what you mean by that because people will always need gold to get their epic mount, for flasks and consumes for the raids this week, for alts, etc…

I’m trying to reduce RMT because it’s directly affecting almost every aspect of the game and I actually agree with blizzard that RMT should be banned, which I assume you don’t agree with or care about

All I can say is I’m really glad you aren’t in charge of the game. You’d have the lights off at Blizzard within a month of arrival.
Currency farming is a core aspect of an MMO. It’s something to do. You grind gold, you get items. You find stuff to buy. You can even run a hushed voice “GDKP” with your gold! Yes, the gold you EARNED in game can be used to bid on an item you may want. That way you don’t have to rely on rolls! You spend time farming gold, and you guarantee yourself a nice item.
MMO’s have always had an uphill battle with RMT. See WoW token for example. There’s no way an extreme suggestion like adding a gold cap could ever be the answer. You have absolutely no idea what the repercussions of doing that would be.

Troll’s bane leggings regularly sells for 200g, and mantle of thieves goes for 300-500g. You cannot actually believe that stuff like Bow of Searing Arrows, Pendelom of Doom, and Staff of Jordan will not be over 1000 gold.
It turns out a lot of people have spent a good time farming gold during this phase, in anticipation of being able to buy some nice items next phase. You seem to have squandered your time pointing fingers and calling everyone else a cheater.
