Retail isn’t dead - it’s just garbage that’s attracted a particular type of gamer in spades. That gamer wants to have nearly the best gear despite only running LFR, they want to be able to AFK through every piece of content, solo everything else or - if forced to group - have a LFG machine handle the social part and never have to speak to anyone.
All Classic’s success has proven is there’s clearly a hunger for the social MMO that WoW used to be. Since it’s in maintenance mode on release, however, that hunger won’t really be satiated fully - someone’s going to give the social MMO a shot again, whether it’s Blizzard or someone else.
Problem with retail is the never ending treadmill moves too fast so they over compensate the hamster by giving it more water instead of addressing the true problem.
Classic has a much slower treadmill finite even so that when you get something you can enjoy it for much longer and that gives you the feeling of fulfillment.
Wat it literally has as many viewers just watching on twitch. You’re saying there are more people watching someone play than actually playing? Has that ever happened with any other game?
There’s never been a game in the top 10 on twitch that has had more concurrent viewers than it does active players at any point what are you talking about?
No kidding. #1 rule of these forums is don’t break the circle. Even reddit in general is better than here for dissenting opinions. Hence completely delusional threads like this
Holy crap way to cherry pick literally the worst example you could. Next you’re going to cite “Just Dance” as an example. It’s obvious you are not arguing in good faith.
Oh wait, I thought you said its never happened before though? No? Not exactly what you said?
