The MMO genre in general is in decline, but WoW is still the top MMO, which is amazing considering how bad Shadowlands is.

What do you consider dead? A few days ago I flew the entirety of Kalimdor and found a total of 32 players (this does not include the people who duel in front of Org). 19 of those players were under level 60.

In my opinion, the addition of Chromie time has had a major negative impact on questing in terms of player engagement. This splits players away from each other and does nothing to help build community. People decry RDF but this is far far worse and actually pulls players away from each other.

Laying also hurts the feeling of the world being alive. Tonight I did some world pvp with a few people. While we share the same server, I couldn’t see them in the same zone until I was invited to their group.

DF will bring people back, however, that’s going to be incredibly short lived once people realize how many issues there are with the player talents. People will hype dragon riding for awhile but that novelty will wane.

I think it’s more that people have all their characters leveled up already. Lots of folks already have every class at 50+.

I don’t think retail is dead the issue is the sharding / laying designed to spread the player base out so you don’t see as many people on the world anymore even tho there may be 100’s of people in the same zone you just can’t see them making it feel dead. Plus with cross realm there no reason to play on a popular server so population already low makes it feel even lower.

No the game isn’t dead. I’ve been leveling a bunch of new characters. There are tons of people online and my queue times for dungeons have been very short, even as a DPS it’s usually only a few minutes.

In no way is it dead come on over to storm rage realm ton’s of alliance there I know the feeling though I came form Dalaran and even trade chat was baron so if your looking for active folks by all means Storm rage is the place I’m loving it here.

It’s a month before new expansion release, and 2-3 weeks before actual prepatch release, it’s as dead as it ever will be.
