Is Resto Mage Tower even still doable?

I can’t get past the first phase after about 20 attempts. The final part of this phase specifically, where the two soldiers spawn at once, is instantly killing me. If I stand out of their range after interupting the cast, they rush me in burn me down in about a second (this is with swift and stampeding roar). If I run and try to tank with Iron Bark and Bark Skin, again I’m dpsed down too quickly. I can’t snare them due to dps from my allies breaking it.

I really don’t understand. Can someone who’s done it as of this patch give me some recommendations?

Vortex over roots my dude.

yeah that’s probably the toughest part in the whole thing … you can do it.

and vortex is great… one of them needs to be vortex’ed/stunned/typhooned maybe.
time it with their spin ability.
i usually blew my hero / potions / etc here. you can wait as long as you need to for hero to drop off after… and once you get more comfortable easy to skip the hero.

edit : i also am pretty sure season 2 tier worked in mage tower (at least just before 10.2 dropped) … would help if you have that. (doesnt look like it from your profile :() …

Yes, I just did it first try last week, but I also completed it back in the day so I’m familiar with the pattern. In my opinion it’s actually easier, because you can cast cyclone to CC, and it removes their stacks and interrupts the knife spin. Cyclone was a PVP only talent back in legion.

Also again, vortex all the way.

This is especially tough for Night Elves because we do not have War Stomp or similar to handle that portion. I beat it about a month ago during DF s2. This technique requires Skull Bash, Ursol's Vortex and Typhoon.

How to beat the p1 stacking for MT Resto (as NE)

  • Do not spend any interrupts on the big scary Corrupted Risen you fight just before going into this stacking phase
  • Open by interrupting the Mage’s Arcane Blitz with Skull Bash (ideally near the end of her cast)
  • Cast Efflorescence on the ground if not already
  • Optionally drop Ravaged Seed Pod on the floor
  • Wait for Knife Guys cast to complete and then Disorienting Roar on their channel
  • Immediately drop Vortex on the ground
  • Jump away a couple of times or just move away a little bit as we do after dropping Vortex
  • Turn around and Typhoon
  • Go Moonkin and leap back
  • When one of the two Knife guys enrage and chase you, just kite and target the other one that is damaging your team

If you have to break it down into little combo moves you are doing, think of it like this:

Combo 1

Skull Bash, Disorienting Roar, Vortex

Combo 2

Jump Left, Jump Left (or walk out)
Turn around and Typhoon

Combo 3

Go Moonkin and leap back

That’s about it. You will have to repeat that and have it down.

Once you have all that timing mastered, you can find a window to drop a big Convoke in Moonkin form as needed.

What was your talent build?
