I joined different groups to jump from server to server to tame 2 Vexis on my retail hunters.
See, being trying that, but the people around me haven’t been changing.
Realm hopping still works but it’s much harder to do now with no auto-accept and it also depends what you’re trying to do it for. About the only time realm hopping is actually possible is near the start of an expac and in said expacs zones and only within the first couple hours of server reset.
At least that’s how I was jumping dozens of servers every day near the start of SL for the rares.
I always seemed to be pulled to another shard when I was doing mythics with my Horde buddy, but that was also in Oribos and SL zones. 
Not really, though I heard sometimes going in warmode makes farming stuff easier.
If you have a 2nd account or friend willing to help you can create a bunch of class trials on whatever realms you want to hop to - low pop rp realms work best and you can find which ones are shared so you don’t waste time checking the same realm twice. Just check the realm on the class trial, see if it has what you’re looking for and if so invite your main.
I’ve done this for years but most recently a couple months ago I farmed Huolon this way. Was getting 20-30 kills a day on him just causally checking.

I might be crazy but I think I remember them adding requirements that have to be met before you’re transferred — the other player in your party being within a certain distance of you, I think, because realm hop abuse was so rampant.
Wouldn’t be surprised.

Since ZM was busy at the time, i was stationed by the spawn and would join a farming group and then when i popped in i was ready to tame if he was up and not engaged yet. Tamed 6 across my hunters like that.
why vexis?
I had a mog and mount that they matched and i wanted two of them for each of my 3 hunters, part of the fun of being a hunter. It was funny when a few people were waiting for more to arrive and i snipped the mob. A few times someone would realize what was happening and jump down and start killing it.
Yea, sometimes a rare/event is bugged on your server and server hopping is the only way you will get it.
Yes but the guy whose group you join to realm hop has to be (or have been) in the zone you want to hop to.
