Is really wow community so toxic?

I keep watching many people opening topics complaining about that, like way too much topics

i also once saw a video of Nixxion i think it was, making a parody about how good FF community is compared to wow

is that truth ? i didn’t play dragonflight or the new exp so i have no idea how high level dungeons and raids comunities are, but there seems to be a lot of people mad about it

So … you added another one?

(But to answer your question, I only interact with the community here on the forums, so I have no idea how repsentative the anecdotes are)

FFXIV community ‘appears’ to be very good and nice, but underneath it all is a vast pit of darkness and despair.

The WoW community can be rather toxic, but I also think that the FFXIV community can be just as bad in their own ways.

Both communities are all sunshine and rainbows compared to League of Legends.

everyone loves to complain about toxicity in wow but it isn’t bad at all if you actually play the game. it’s mostly an illusion, the most toxicity I’ve seen is in queued content and that’s because people are so bored they pick fights with each other since its so easy.

Yuh it is big time part of why there’s a healer “shortage”.

The first thing I do in any MMO is turn off chat.

Its bad . Self centered gogogo mentality. Take this game as a second job. There are maybe worse communities idk.
At least now you can meaningfully solo at level 80.
Without touching mythic plus . Mythic plus is where epeen contest and drama takes place the most.
Anyway there are decent people :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: n Wow as well.
I am a lil tle bitter at failed VOH launch.
Ff14 community seemed nicer but i only played for several minths

WoW is the most honest community. Players will really show who they are.

In that same breath, you can still find proper communities within WoW, especially the Secret Finding Discord. There’s a Fashion Police community too, they do some fun events with transmog. And they’ll be both nice, and if you ask–they’ll be mean girls.

I like when people banter in raid chat in PUG raids. As a healer main, I’ll pick on another healer and hype them up, like, “Prevoker, you’re gonna hit 1mil HPS and let me finish my tacos, right?” And because “healers just heal” is mostly the strat, we banter a bit and enjoy ourselves.

One player was struggling on HPS, and in whispers, was like, “bro how ware you pumping so much?” And I spent the entire 8/8N clear (Week 2) helping them adjust their gameplay bit by bit.

Just have fun, and fun will find you.

Also, if you’re new to WoW, or it’s been a while and you’re out of the loop… just say so. No one cares if a new player makes a mistake. What they care about is wasting time. A new player who gets killed by a mechanic/mistake isn’t wasting time, but someone tanking the floor boss is wasting time.

  • New players are like Little League kids. They might throw the baseball to second base and allow the runner on third base to steal home base. It’s a learning experience.

Wow has the loudest toxic community. If i.tey really hard i mightbe able to come up with a handful of actually toxic encounters in wow

I dunno I just heal dungeons and vote kick anyone that needs more healing than once a minute, no one really seems to be toxic there. Would trade chat talking about feet be considered toxic?

FFXIV’s community is not all that. It’s the same community that’ll harass people for using addons and skipping the cutscenes.

At least with WOW, people have a sense of humor. In FFXIV, they’re just boring.

FFXIV has a severe passive aggressive streak because people who want to behave poorly know they can’t just give people the Xbox Live treatment and not have a chat with a moderator.

But to it’s credit FFXIV has no strict faction system so excluding PVP, there’s zero reason to get petty / competitive with people for no reason. And there’s a clear delineation between normie and hardcore content.

MG is one of the most populated servers and as far as toxicity goes… we have a mixed bag. As long as you don’t look at trade chat and avoid most opt-in RP you’re good, everybody else tends to be as nice and polite as you are to them. Bring positivity and a good time, and you can expect it in return.

Also fun tip, avoid the Slaughtered Lamb, Cathedral District except the Orphanage, and another place or two… those tend to be where the edgy antisocial people tend to be.

This is what discord is for.

One can find channels there with some moderation. find a room with rules and people you like more.

Also people tend to care about their discord profile more to be less of a butthat. its pita to redo all that crap for a burned account really.

vice wow…I could change over to 30+ chars really across retail, cata. hell sod and era hc too!

Poof I go to my cata horde rogue, post 1. She is not the paladin (lets have me go full bore toxic) you are looking for. Yet anyway, lol.

As someone that’s been playing that game for many years, you are incorrect.

Some would say you are fake news.

In broad strokes, FFXIV may be less toxic because it’s less competitive.

But there’s a such thing as “toxic positivity” in FFXIV I’ve heard: FF14 and toxic positivity : r/ffxivdiscussion (reddit.com). Basically, they don’t tolerate any criticism of the game or other players (even if it’s well meaning) among other things.

Large communities without restrictions will also tend to be negative, especially on things like internet forums - most feedback tends to be negative. But that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make for openness and honesty - you just need a thicker skin.

No I have really met very rude and toxic players in the end game of FFXIV it is a real thing. People only act nice cause they know they’ll get banned if they don’t.

No, not really.

I guess it can get kind of spicy in more casual content when people start to struggle.

All communities are toxic and all communities have their crying babies.

I hear the same from other online game communities like LoL or CoD, is the internet it is what it is.
