Is pvp a simple rock, paper, scissors concept?

I watched a stats video and demon hunters are played at a rough rate of 300% less than every class. I didn’t play when dh’s were deemed op but i’ve seen the videos. This isn’t a rant at all. I kind of enjoy playing an underdog class because it feels good when im top damage in bgs/arenas (ocassionally).

My main point though is there’s some classes I look at and KNOW I can 1v1 and then there’s classes I avoid like the literal plague. Is this normal? Am I the only one who thinks this? All classes are welcome to respond, not just dh’s. Some classes are easy mode and some I can’t even do 10% of their hp which leaves me confused af. I either feel like a god or I feel like a literal noob.

It’s more of a “Me, Tarzan” concept.

No one can defeat my patented bubble hearth technique.

I’m not looking for jokes, but I understand why it’s tempting to do so

No and hasn’t been like that for 15 years or so.

Its about codown exchange and positioning.

Whoever has the better gear wins.

lmao.

I call DH ters Grasshoppers.

I mean, yes, there are some classes that function as counters to others. But play-style and situation also come into account.

Some hunters consider melee to be easy pickings because they’re great at kiting and can keep them away for days, while I feel like I get stunned, trinket it off, then get stunned again and burned down before I can react.
In contrast, other hunters struggle with ranged opponents who often deal higher damage, but I find I’m familiar enough with their kits that I know what to interrupt and when to LoS and what the best time to pop a cooldown might be.

It’s less rock paper scissors and more… simplified chess.

I know what you mean and it makes sense, but im saying I consistently can’t beat some classes even with all my cds available. Warlocks specifically just eat me alive, but there are others that feel similar.

The 50/50 classes tend to be a simple gear difference. Notably warriors and hunters=better gear wins, but thats pretty normal and should be in most cases regardless of class choice.

Zug Zug /nod

It’s more like rock, paper, cc

Constructive criticism is dead. Unfortunate. Some of you think this is a joke or something. I used to be a very high rated pvper and I take competitive play very seriously. I’ve played against some of the top players in the game and considered myself among them. Not on this character of course, but a part of this post is aimed at my class although not exclusively.
