I’m only looking to like tank keys up to ten and heroic raid. I really like leveling my warrior. Did I pick the wrong tank?
For any lower end content, anything can get the job done.
Don’t let the ‘meta’ discourage you.
On my warrior I find most content very doable. I don’t like soloing things on a warrior as they can’t heal them selves (very well). But if you have a healer, you never have to worry about your hp dropping to 2% in the first three seconds of a fight like a DK or DH may have to. Didn’t world first bring a warrior. Either way it’s a solid tank and has a good chance of seeing buffs instead of nerfs.
Prot is plenty more than viable in +10 keys. At ilvl 208, my healer tells me that I basically don’t take damage in a +10.
There was a prot warrior in world first kills of most Mythic bosses, so it’s for sure viable on heroic.
Prot is very viable on all current content. And as of 9.0.5 with the new reprisal lego, we are close to meta. Get out their and start tanking!
They’re fine don’t believe the hype.
Absolutely, reprisal is the way to go imo
I just timed my first 15 this expansion @215 ilvl and the healer even mentioned I needed very little healing
Just keep in mind your going to need to put in more work as prot and especially with getting the most out of reprisal. It’s not facetoll
Feels like trash but it will work I suppose. But then again tanking/healing in Systemlands is hard garbage anyway so I digress.
The only reason I won’t do anything 10 and up is because I don’t feel like dealing with all of this ‘meta’ toxicity.
Its viable. I was able to 3 chest a +5 NW tonight at 188 ilvl. The biggest challenge I have is not getting any invites at all. So be prepared to run your own keys.
There are prots tanking 20s so I think just doing 10s will be fine. As for raiding people will usually take one since they have such an amazing ability to deal with physical damage and they have a legendary that gives shield wall to the raid, it’s really good.
I’m honestly thinking of switching from Prot Paladin to warrior as a main since the buffs to reprisal. As it stands right now my Prot Paladin is getting TRUCKED by physical damage even with mitigation up. Warrior deals with that very well
Sadly, it only applies to the party, not the whole raid. Since it also effectively sacrifices a lot of personal survivability (because you’re not wearing a different legendary, and because you’re using Shield Wall as a party CD instead of a personal CD), it’s very niche and rarely worth using.
Regardless prot is in high demand for tanking bosses since it has great cleave and amazing physical protections. I guess if you really wanted to take extra protections you could use “The Wall” but I think most people would take “Reprisal” just because how much it gives, either way prot is good for raiding.
As long as you use ignore pain. It is almost impossible to heal warriors when they don’t use it.
From a healer point of view healing at 15+ compare to all other tanks. I always have trouble keeping up healing warrior. The second worse in my exp is dk. Whenever I’m in a group with a proC tank, I have to focus and pop all CDs on him. If More heavy damage to others, it’s over.
Prot warriors are one of the easiest too heal imo, they may not have any self heals but they also mitigate one of the most damage of all tanks. if your warrior tanks are spiking it’s probably because they’re bad and not using their cd’s correctly or people aint interupting which will kill all tanks.
Edit: Also they can spell reflect so many tank busters its kinda dumb lmao.
All this. I just started doing m+ so Im no pro. Sometimes I get distracted chasing aggro and forget to pop sb, so then Im like “Oh crap! Shieldwall-laststand-commandingshout-scream!” And I usually make it out by the skin of my teeth, but when I run out of interrupts, if no one is helping, it gets bad.
Maybe or maybe not they were bad but 1300 + io May know their class well and dungeons. Or Druid healer isn’t great at healing warriors as our heals mostly Are hots and slower against spiky damages compare to other healers.
