Is pandaria more based around japaneese history or chineese?

Not Winnie The Pooh?

Japanese and chinese

(Japan and China)

I spent a couple years in Japan (and some more in ā€œotherā€ Asian locales), and it didn’t seem particularly Japanese based to me.

Definitely Chinese. Pandas are from China, so is all of the architecture featured in MoP. The accents can be a bit iffy and weird sometimes, but most of them lean towards Chinese.

I think most similarities with countries outside of China can be explained away by the fact that Buddhism is so widespread outside of China, and Buddhism is the main basis for the belief system of the Pandaren.

Well that is very much like a kimono, I grant you. It isn’t from MoP and its fairly low graphics but that sort of outfit would fit a Japanese-themed part of the game.

MoP is chinese based.

Ignore all these people. Its based on hittite history and civilization

it’s chinese, this expansion was blizz trying to tap into the chinese market and failed, spaciffically the Genzhou dynasties and the qing dynasties 5000 years ago

nah, that’s very chinese of the time, looks chinese, but it’s ming era armor

They have other ones with better graphics and different styles.

Well the first concept blizzard made was a samurai panda…

Which was rejected by China forcing Blizzard to go for Pure Chinese aesthetics for Pandaria with no Japanese features.

I dunno, probably the country that owns every single Panda in the world except one?

I always kinda figured Pandaria was more…China as well the wall dividing the land, the fact there’s pandas as idk if Japan has pandas, the fact there is supposedly a lot of wild kinds of food in China… just…kinda felt like China but that’s not a bad thing.

Pandas are weird, a large carnivore decides to not only become an herbivore but specializes on eating one of the least nutritious plants on the planet. Female pandas are only receptive to mating for very brief times once a year and they are solitary creatures, meaning partners have to find each other in a short window of opportunity which is complicated by the males not being terribly competent. I’ve never read about another species that is trying as hard as pandas to go extinct.
