It seems like Pagle is bleeding players, looking at ironforge its dropped 800+ players now from 6/15 to 6/29 and I see in trade chat alot of guilds moving over to Bene. I fear the numbers for 7/13 are going to be lower.
I’ve got a vested interest in Pagle because after a few months of TBC I moved 7 characters from Mankrik alliance there which costed me $175 USD pre tax. I do not want a repeat and spending possibly $250 in wrath to transfer over 10 characters to another server.
They are in huge trouble but you’ll soon get the Pagle copium armada flowing on this thread saying the server is fine when it clearly isn’t. They literally lost their best guild and they’re already raiding on Benediction.
A few guilds leaving (the first 800 people to xfer) isnt the problem the issue is the ripple of fear about being left on a dead server causing people to start planning to leave however its too late to stop that now so you may as well get ready to move as once it hits critical mass and transfers get blocked from pagle it will be too late.
You might want to prioritise 1-2 transfers instead of the whole lot the exp buff before prepatch will allow you to level other alts.
FYI, anecdotally, the number of people I know who won’t be playing Wrath at all, isn’t small. We have a bench now, but come Wrath we’ll need to recruit more people because we’ll be short. And even on mega serves like pagle and mankrik, the recruiting pool isn’t huge because there are way too many guilds.
I know which is why people are moving to the big server to guarantee a guild for next expansion.
Personally I just transferred a guy to pagle about 2 months back (so he is probably doomed) but I will most likely be playing fresh or Grob now with new characters rolled during exp buff
Happened on my home server Kromcrush and seeing a ton of the same replies for Pagles situation in the sense that people are downplaying the situation and making it seem as though it’s not happening even though we are watching it in real time.
You can expect the population to drop by the hundreds every week.
And it’s definitely compounded by the fact that a fraction of those lost players might not of transferred but just taken a break.
IMO it’s a slap in the face to player’s for Blizzard to allow this same situation to play out again but they most likely won’t do anything because they benefit from all the paid transfers but players like you who have recently transferred will be stuck on a dead server.
Its too late for that if people are openly talking on the server about transferring that means large numbers will be transferring each week till critical mass is hit.
You’re a wise person. But like you said it’s a dominoe effect who can’t be stopped. Just like you my server went thru the same fate, we had a healthy pop but when the rumors started flying and the guilds started talking about it, it was too late.
I woke up in the morning with a dead server, my guild was the last one to transfer but it had to be done, we weren’t able to recruit players for Pre nerf SSC even though we killed Vashj. It looks like Pagle players are blind and don’t want to accept the current situation but it’s only going to get worse if you try to ignore it.
As one person leaves 2 more consider it, sure there is a chance that it stops at 5k or 3k but its also possible it drops to <1k and becomes a dead server.
And I say this as a person who cant transfer because I have seen this happen in multiple games since 2004 (sometimes it was moving to a new game instead of server transfers but functionally the same process).
It always goes
Some people move on (no noise at all)
People notice others missing and discuss in guild if they should move on as well (some leave some stay)
People notice the 2nd groups leaving and start discussing in local chat (either new game or which server)
Steady decline of players
In WoW its accelerated by the fear that Blizzard will lock transfers off Pagle (and so your stuck forever).
Bene will likely have crippling queues for wrath, but fresh is definitely a viable option.
I would say yes that a server with a comparable population that is showing all the same signs of a mass exodus to a server that now has 0 players is a rather good comparison.
If you’re not first your last. And no one wants to be the last person on the server so they’re the first too leave.
Nobody is fear mongering my dude, most of us are on Benediction because our past servers died. We dont want the same to happen to Pagle. Ignoring this wont make it any better, Blizzard has to either lock Pagle transfers or Benediction. Beny players dont want queues either.
