I got all hyped up to play outlaw in pvp for 11.2.
All I’m seeing is doom and gloom about how bad they are. So before I drop all my honor tomorrow on one, will it really be that big of a mistake?

You’re trolling if you’re playing Outlaw in PvP.
Heck, you’re trolling if you’re playing Outlaw period at this point. That spec was peak fun back in SL but it is a complete steaming pile now.
Killing Spree is um… Ugh
Oh yeah, they changed it to a shooting spree now, right?
Its terrible, blade flurry + killing spree no longer teleports around at multiple targets. It was the last thing from the spec that was cool to see.
I get that a lot of people really hated the way the old one teleported around, because the way it was a bit unpleasant on the eyes. But they could have just changed it so the camera stayed static during the animation. That wouldn’t be dissimilar to demon hunters’ blade dance.
Its because it would teleport you into death in pve, especially M+. You had to be very careful with timing or delay its use frequently.
The problem with old Killing Spree is that it physically teleported you so it would often kill you by targeting you into one-shot mechanics.
It was often just straight up a suicide button.
Problem with Outlaw from what I can tell is their heaviest hitters are pure phys. So high armor classes and reduction will make you a non issue.
Combine that with the fact that your two other specs have actual cooldowns (Adrenaline Rush sucks) and you deal literally 0 damage.
PvE they’re fun. Especially since Killing Spree is sweet, pistol go brrr. PvP as always is a different beast entirely.
lmao.
Outlaw needs to be removed and replaced with Jester spec. Blind becomes Throw Pie, which hits the target with a pie to the face. Sprint pulls out a unicycle. Between the Eyes returns as throwing a rotten tomato at the target.
Outlaw is the Delve spec to me simply because I liked it better than Sub, due to the 1 hour Tricks hero talent in the Trickster tree than Sin can’t access. I also use it to farm old instances since the hook is better than Shadowstep for long empty corridors.
But it’s a really, really terrible spec IMO, to the point I’m reconsidering just going Sub in order not to touch it again.
Ended up doing the same with it after playing through S2 as Outlaw. Went sin and haven’t looked back. I think rogues overall need some love though. Having vanish as a DPS cool down needs to go, or if nothing else, let it leave behind some kind of decoy for open world mobs to smack instead of resetting combat.
They could create a Trickster spec …
Outlaw makes for a great Janitor spec, it’s good for clearing old Dungeons/raids and the grapple hook helps that go faster.
Truth nuke: The real QoL killer for Rogues is Vanish/Stealth being something they do for combat and not something that they do specifically to avoid combat.
Outlaw is the only rogue spec i enjoy. I dont pvp, and i havent reset my talents since the rework last patch to compare changes; but prior to that i levelled a rogue outlaw from 1-70 using recuperate between large pulls without a single death.
PvP I can understand with having no burst. Raiding I saw their numbers were pretty bad.
But for M+ they were a top 5 spec for season 2. Tuning is tuning, and right now they aren’t looking as good for season 3 but they certainly aren’t bad enough to say running Outlaw in M+ is trolling.
Blade Flurry carries the spec in M+, while Between the Eyes is basically the only source of reliable damage in the entire spec due to Crackshot being obnoxiously overpowered as an endcap.
If Blizzard changed the way Outlaw fishes for Between the Eye procs in any way, the entire spec is dead in the water instantly.
Rogue needs an entire rework completely. The fact that it putters on in this condition since DF is kind of surprising. I don’t expect Midnight to fix it either.
Sure, but damage is damage. If your spec does good damage then it doesn’t really matter how it gets there. Outlaw performance was fantastic last season, its not looking as good this season so far but its still totally fine and these things always change over the season.
Not enjoying the spec is another matter. That’s totally valid, but it doesn’t make the spec bad. I don’t like Unholy DK. That doesn’t mean I think it was a bad spec in Season 2.
I disagree. Rogue do pretty good damage overall, but because of how the specs play, people are just turned off for other classes that do just as much with less clutter.
That’s why the population of Rogue precipitously dips almost every season because players are just tired of dealing with the antiquity when other classes are so much better.
