What’s wrong with it?
I know we had that issue with the weapons appearing, but now we can hide them again.

I assume you mean because you can’t show mail other than shoulders and belts? If so, the reasons we can’t show more mail pieces is because to just enable mail would basically break the use of the barbershop armour. It wouldn’t be as simple as just turning mail on.
They would need to make special exceptions for Dracthyr to hide legs at the very least. On top of hopefully separating the forms so that those who wanted to just use barbershop armour wouldn’t have to have a Visage running around in nothing but their underwear.

Game programmer here. It’s not terribly difficult to handle exceptions like this, the real complication and the reason for barbershop armour in the first place is because it’s primarily an issue of asset production. Retrofitting it all would take a lot of time, and some pieces have logistical issues in general just trying to make it look good.
Chances are it’s already possible to apply armour textures onto the body texture like with every other race. Even Naga are integrated with this system, and boots just show up as little belts for their tails. It would just look weird without the full armour mesh also attached.
There may also be some animation issues depending on how the rig is set up, which would also take dev time to fix. Developer hours are the real limiting factor here. But personally I think it’s important enough to do eventually.

Yeah, it’s the worst of both worlds. Either have it show everything or nothing. Right now if I try to make a mog for my elf form it ends up clipping through all of my dragon armor.

I am all for more choice. My only hope is that they manage to do it in a way that wouldn’t leave me with a Visage mostly naked except for pants, and a Dracthyr with the barbershop armour I want and pants I can’t hide.

Hmm they could add ‘Forgotten Dracthyr manuscripts’ to add new wing cladding armor if they did such a thing.
I said this in the other thread but i’ll say it again.
Fixing it implies that blizzard thinks it’s broken, but this is the intended way for it to be. Somebody was proud of the way this works.
I just want to be able to separate my transmogs, because i don’t want to have to care about matching if i want to use shoulders, belts, and tabards. I’d rather just not have anything carry over to the dragon form, and have a few more armor types. Like the shoulders that were shown and never put into the game.
Also where’s that dracthyr themed armor for the visage that they datamined forever ago? Is that our heritage armor? Why has that not been put in yet?
Based on the concept art, I think full transmog was originally intended, but it may have been too difficult to get it working.
Personally I’m perfectly willing to take plastered-on textures just so I can get a little colour coordination.

From what I have seen Dracthyr are more like NPCs than PCs in their design. There is basically an issue of the Dracthyr UV maps being totally different from a normal character for some reason. Non-3D armor looks like distorted nightmare fuel on them.
Ah, that’s what I was afraid of. Certainly not impossible to change, but it does complicate things quite a bit.
Now what WOULD be nice is a toggle to turn off the belt and shoulder override. Because that is a Transmog nightmare.
Perhaps that, and also control over the primary, secondary and tertiary colours for the armour. We have such limited band of options as it is.

the atrocious transmog situation makes me loathe to commit to playing dracthyr, it’s such a dumb decision to have made them this way it makes me mad to just think about

I’d be happy if they added more color combos for the barbershop armor. 9 times out of 10 the color of the armor doesn’t match anything in game for shoulders/belt. =\

Just want to toss in that it would be nice to get human male and blood elf female visage options.
don’t you have already blood elf female?
My issue is that if they ever release more classes for them. The problem is they will share the same silhouette becuase they wont show the bulky armor for plate, the lean leather look, or the cloth tube dress.
While yes alot of armor can look like it belongs to a different class you can get use to that appearance. But with they dont ahow any armor or any back weapons( 2 handers bows staves etc.) You will not be able to tell the difference between a dracthyr warrior to a mage because they will look like an evoker because they all share the same barbershop armor.
My hope was that they wouls just make the barbershop gear the first build tour own heritage armor but they seem to be stubborn on this still and they where doing so well on listening to the players again.
Sorry for my ramble dracthyr transmog has been a big downside to dragon flight for me because im a transmog maniac and you cant fight crime if you aint cute.

^ This 100% , wish we had more options in colors as the barbershop colors barely match the shoulders and belts of current tmogs.
