Been thinking about this one with the raid opening soon. I believe according to lore, N’zoth was actually the weakest Old God with Y’Sharj being the strongest. Y’Sharj was killed by Aman’Thul and only heart left. Sure it was dangerous because it corrupted people but the actual Old God was long gone.
As for Cthuun and Yoggsaron we fought them both but we only fought their essences right? Avatars, infuences, or whatever you want to call them. We fought only a fraction of them that managed to stick out from their respective prisons. They are both still stuck in their prisons, defeated but very much still alive.
N’Zoth might be the first Old god we’ve encountered free from restraints (depending on what happens in Azshara raid of course). Does that mean he could potentially be the most dangerous?

Ask this question tomorrow. Until we know what happens at the end of Azshara’s raid, we really can only speculate on what’s gonna happen with ol tentacle face.
I’m going to agree with Azshara that he’s the god of nothing.
Sorry, was mesmerized by Cthulu…
When they say weakest are they speaking physically or power level? He may be the most intelligent and manipulative. He seems to get other, powerful creatures to fight for him. I would say he is probably the most dangerous.

The Call of Cthulhu is strong.

You mean the Old God who’s been whipped by Azshara for over 10,000 years?
Ok.

If I remember the lore correctly, he is technically the weakest of the 4 old gods.
Though, if he is unrestrained, he will be the strongest we have faced by a significant factor

He breaks the prison thanks to us so I will go out on a limb and say, yeah he’s going to be pretty dangerous, if not the most. He’s quite the intelligent one if I recall and can control most or influence most minds.
With the rip in space closed to the Titan Pantheon, I’m curious who is going to help us defeat him.

N’Zoth is the weakest of the four technically, but easily the most clever.
The four (five counting G’hunn) preferred more direct methods. N’Zoth just bides his time, manipulating the right people, and launching attacks from there. Deathwing was his biggest gambit but Deathwing was already very powerful. N’Zoth just needed to give him the destructive tendencies.
The fact he’s trying to reach out to the PCs themselves makes him the only one to realize just how important they are, and how much they can aid him, should they accept the gift. And if they help him become completely free, C’Thun, Yogg, and Y’Sharrj combined will have nothing on N’Zoth.

I wonder if somehow Sargeras returns with Illidan in tow, like a buddy cop movie…Murtaugh and Riggs style.

lol… well I keep thinking something will happen with the Sword. And that they kept Sargeras and Illidan for potential future plot use instead of killing one or the other off somehow. So it’s a big possibility.
We will need something big happening. Especially with Xa’latath also roaming around in the void.
I’m reminded of Nietzsche: And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee.
One of the rooms is Circle of Stars, which harkens back to Ilgynoth’s whispers. Cool things are ahead methinks, but I’m prepping for at least a little twist: Azshara perhaps an unwilling or unknowing jailor of N’zoth that perhaps had a “Loken” affect.
I’d imagine they’d be speaking in terms of pure power. Because the beings that came and laid down the smackdown didn’t care about the corrupting influences of the old gods. They weren’t there for long enough and they were too powerful.
Pound for pound, the Old Gods couldn’t compete with the Titans. They just cared about who put up the most resistance to being shoved in a box, and apparently that wasn’t N’zoth.
Of course as we know, the only reason why they didn’t straight up nuke the Old Gods would doing so would kill Azeroth’s World Soul and that’s pretty important for whatever reason.
to do this subject justice we need to do a deep dive on lovecraftian old gods lore. its divided into three parts
- the great old ones, which is where cthulhu is located and therefore is a title cthun would falll under since his equivalent is cthulhu in lovecraft lore. cthun is a great old one?
- the outer gods, which is where azathoth is located in the hierarchy, and presumably refers to azeroth. oddly enough, azathoth is a leader of the outer gods. is azeroth an old god? that doesnt make sense. yog-sothoth is here as well, which is the namesake of yog-saron? Shub-Niggurath is likely n’zoth since he’s referred to as “The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young”, which is a whisper is it not?
- the elder gods - are these the titans?

No but he’s supposedly the smartest.
Obviously smart enough to be the last one left.
I would say that Yog was the most dangerous as he’s the only one that had direct wardens in his prison to keep him in check and it was those wardens that he was corrupting. Now N’Zoth is the the most cunning and patient and the most skilled in subterfuge. So in a way yes that makes him the most dangerous.
Found this on imgur, kind of interesting…
