Lately as I run higher difficulty mythics, I find myself wondering if it is supposed to be THIS difficult. I feel like I cannot heal everyone as quickly as they are taking damage and it ends up becoming pretty stressful.
I’m playing Preservation Evoker and I think they are a lot of fun to play, but when everyone is running around like chickens it’s very hard to heal efficiently with the 30 range limit.
Is it a gear thing? Maybe I’m not ready for +9 but my Ilvl is 382
I dunno, I guess I’m just feeling a little defeated. I didn’t think I was a bad player, but it’s just crazy trying to keep up with the damage.
Everyone is still undergeared and don’t know the mechanics for 3/4s of the fights so I honestly would give things a month to even out. The first M+ season of a new xpac always feels a lot rough because people are starting from nothing and like I said all new dungeons and abilities that people are ignoring. There definitely are some outliers but it isn’t as bad as everyone is making it out to be
Yeah, I think that’s fair to say, I guess this is the growing pains part of the expansion
I just feel responsible for wipes as a healer but perhaps I should drop that mentality. I do agree with you, I don’t think it is that bad overall it just feels rough for heals right meow
I was feeling the same way about things but you gotta look at the details of why you wiped. Are DPS and tanks actually using defensive when they’re being targeted? Standing in stuff? Not interrupting? There’s a lot of factors that usually go into a wipe and it usually isn’t 1 persons fault but the group as a whole
If you feel overwhelmed, drop back down a key level or two. Study the encounters harder. Read up and make sure you know every single one of the mechanics, for two reasons:
You need to know when damage is likely to be coming, so that you can space out your essence and CDs for those moments. Prevokers live and die on those couple of big spenders.
You need to know when it’s not your fault. And the best way is to know what mechanics are happening, so that you know when your group members have failed those mechanics lol.
start using raiderio and start playing with only other people with similar scores or better. it sounds like you’re playing with the average random wow player, which tells you why you’re struggling.
It is imperative that people stack to place the pods closer, then burn the hell out of those pods. When it happens the second time they WILL pop and you will have adds. Those adds need to be stunlocked and burned down ASA-friggen-P, tank will need poison cleanse once it stacks high enough or you have a spare global. I suggest lusting at this point to help dps kill everything and dps heal easier. Kill the bigger add and interrupt it’s healing and stand in the circle if you can to heal/clease. ( I find the heal/cleanse always happens at a bad time - mostly because burning that add so it cant heal is important - it shouldn’t be tied to that mob dying, should happen scripted a second or two after pods hatch ) As a MW monk I even put down my ring of peace to keep adds off me because the adds all tunnel me asap due to healer aggro, tank needs to aoe taunt if possible asap too.
If people are spread on this fight or dont kill the pods/adds fast it is hell. Even if you stack dps people need to not tunnel the boss when adds phases are happening.
The adds on that boss need some tuning imo. ( maybe have less adds spawn or lower the poison’s apply chance ) This boss at 8 was harder than anything on SMBG at 10
There is only so much healing one can put out and if the team isnt doing basic stuff like interrupting or burning important adds…it’s not gonna be fun.
I just ran an academy and was solely responsible for one wipe (grabbed two packs and line of sighted the healer) and with smart play could have prevented a second one. I needed to wait two seconds to drop the pool before grabbing the orb instead of doing both at the same time, if I could have survived that I would have been able to solo it as the damage isn’t high on the tank at all.
It seems pretty rough on healers. I personally try to help with a word of glory or lay on hands here or there. If I remember correctly healers were “OP” so Blizzard increased everything (including ours) damage by about 40% as well as HP.
Basically if you can help your healers, do it. Keep those defensives on cooldown, use your heals and kick more butt!
I honestly just hate CoS last boss, and the last boss temple jade serpent, I get one dispel…and 2 go out. And the ticking damage is a little excessive…its not as bad with a coordinated group, but pugging it is a pain but I just do baby keys
It’s so true eh? This boss is easily the hardest encounter IMO of whats available right now. It really truly is the PUG killer. Always makes me wonder why I go back in every single time. The drops are just so good from the dungeon though
I feel your pain, I struggled with the last boss of Jade serpent in a run last night because of this exact reason! I could only dispel one of the debuffs at a time and the damage is just insane on it.
It’s at times like this I really wish classes that have cleanse would use it, would just help out immensely
Maybe you got a point there with doing “baby keys” (hilarious) with pug groups and saving the more challenging stuff for coordinated groups
Thanks! I think, haha I’m not sure if that is good or not but I appreciate what you are saying. I think I’m going to stop doing PUG for +7 and beyond, at least for now
Mechanics in this dungeon pool are brutal. Then again sanguine depths in SL was also awful until people learned the dungeon. By last season it was in the key pool people had it down pat.
The other problem is that a lot of these abilities, like the bleed on the overgrown ancient, just aren’t telegraphed very well at all.
I’m also not a fan of the damage plus CC on abilities in the azure vault. Getting chunked and being helpless while the second shoe is dropping just feels bad, I dunno. Yes good players will just get out of the mess, but we’re all human and mistakes happen. It’s essentially a OHKO if you eat some of those abilities.
Zones like RLP are also visually busy. Once people learn what they can tune out on the screen it’ll get better.
This season broke me already. I switched to DPS in m+ and some light pvp to get my healer fix. IMO I think the damage is over tuned even for the start of a season.
CoS last boss make sure you use an inky black potion that you get from darkmoon fair or AH, it makes the wind mechanic much much eauser to see.
For temple grab a warlock to help dispel, their imp can get 1 every set making the boss alot easier for healers. My friend zones out and changes to destro so he can use imp pet with less dps loss.
I wanted to farm the int sword and a few other things - so I originally started doing it on 8-9 this week but most groups fell apart on that boss in the 8-9 range. ( usually from the issues mentioned above ) Eventually I gave up on that and just farmed 6’s for a 382 version, upgraded my offhand, was still satisfied.
SD got nerfed like every other week in season 1. The second boss was near impossible without immunities or specs with good defensives early on. Play a hunter or shaman and get targetted twice in a row and you literally just died without anything you could do about it.
Giant megadeath aoe 9000 goes out in 10 seconds and I can sit there and watch not a single dps press a defensive until after their health dips to 5% and this is just the entire run which makes me think it’s all they do
Then there’s watching all three of the casters in as pack not get interrupted because everybody either kicks the same one or doesn’t kick at all.
