As long as I upgrade conquest gear will it be fine for raid and M+ as a healer? I like to play all content but mostly play pvp and I love that I get to pick my own stats from the vendor.
Does anyone know approximately how much honor this task would take?

You need to realize that most of the pvp gear has very high vers budget so you need to check if it is a good secondary stat for you to worth investing in pvp to get it.
Also, you need to get around rival-duelist lvl to upgrade the pve ilvl of that gear to around 400-405 ilvl so it will take some commitment. If you are only interested in doing it to have the gear for m+/raid, it might be better to just grind it through m+ and get better at practicing routes/fights/affixes etc.
The upgrade costs for pve ilvl on conquest are the same values as they were in shadowlands i think, or close to what they were by the end of the expansion
I think its like 2350 honor per tier for weapon, and a bit less for the other pieces
Its def worth upgrading but itll require a decent amount of honor
You can use the catalyst as well to convert conquest pieces and give them new stats, some of the pieces don’t have vers
PvP gear is just PvE gear that becomes more powerful in PvP.
You can expect the same people that cried about needing pvp gear to pvp to ride you about having too much vers.
Conquest gear starts at what? 380 something in pve?
It’s not horrible. Definitely fine for low level mythic plus or normal raid / first few heroic.
If you can get rating and upgrade it to around 400 or so that’s pretty solid
I also have this question. I’ve been playing an Evoker and got my pve gear level to around 385, then decided to try my hand at pvp (I can’t deal with “twitch” players though). I suck at the ranking play, it’s so group dependent, so its stuck at 382 for pve, other than a few crafted pvp items. Wish there was another way to improve the pvp gear.
I’d like to understand whether there is a downside to the pvp gear when playing in pve?
Pvp gear is nerfed in pve to make it less desirable to pvers, and bis in pvp to make pve gear less desirable to pvpers
Getting conquest gear to its max pve ilvl requires 2400 rating which isnt an easy achievement for everyone. And even that’a only like 408 which is less than max vault ilvl from the other content
Pvp gear has high vers which isnt the most desirable stat in pve for a lot of specs who would rather prioritize haste or mastery
Pvp gear is easily accessible and deterministic, but if someone doesn’t do high rated pvp and can’t upgrade their conquest then it’s not phenomenal compared to m+ or raid gear in pve
Pvp trinkets also don’t compare to m+ and raid trinkets except badge for a few specs
