Is Mug'Zee The First... Average Intelligence Ogre?

Ogres generally come in two varieties: They are either stupid or super geniuses. One is a lot more common than the other, but that’s how it generally goes.

But Mug’Zee appears to be… Regular. They don’t seem to be dumb, but I see no reason to believe they are smart either.

Has there ever been another Ogre like that? I can’t remember any.

In stereotypical gangster setups, he’s “the muscle.” That role isn’t filled by people with brains.

So while he may not be a straight up mouth-drooler, he’s definitely not reading poetry in his downtime.

In the end, IQ is hard to quantify. So maybe what we could agree on is that Ogres tend to be (sic) 80-100, and Mug’zee is 95. Smarter than most Ogres, but still… pretty much a smooth-brain.

I think some of the ogres in Exile’s Reach would qualify as average intelligence. A lot of dumb-dumb ogres there too though.

Lots in wod… they focus on the genius leaders. Their culture is more brutal but it isnt less intelligent

He’s on the lower end of the intelligence spectrum for two headed ogres (ogre magi).

Even if you completely ignore the Gorian Empire from WoD, Cho’gall has been a character since basically the start (even if one of his heads is insane, he was never unintelligent), and we’ve had several cases like Tharg where, in spite of the “primitive” speech, they seem perfectly fine and capable.

There’s also the bit where Gul’dan’s Horde realized they would need naval forces during the Second War, and the ogres were the ones that stepped up to handle shipbuilding since they were the guys with maritime experience.

Each head is below average, which since he has two, makes him fine

God, Mug’Zee is my favorite boss in the raid. He’s also one of the few two-headed ogres as bosses who doesn’t have the heads arguing with each other, they’re rather chill. Not to mention, they really love their job. Almost a shame to have to kill them, but you know, fatboy’s gotta fry, and he’s in the way.

Mug’Zee is a shaman, so he’s probably smarter than he lets on.

no idea but they need to make ogre a playable race already like people been asking for

I just killed him about 10 minutes ago, he ain’t that smart.

We kill everybody. Getting killed by WoW players is no measurement of intelligence or lack of thereof lol

I remember there being a dungeon boss Ogre Mage from BC, as well as the one that worked with (then betrayed) Gul’dan in WoD.

All raid bosses are very dumb unfortunately, they have an enrage spell but they don’t use it on pull, if they enraged on pull and killed the weak little healers first instead of the tanks, they would win every time.

Everyone knows raid bosses have taken many anger management classes over the years.

This has put a delay on enraging, due to their learned coping skills.

Most Ogre Magi can think good!

Yeah, but neither are you or me, so… average.

Two dumbs don’t make a smart.

Yes, but they are two differently dumbed.

So you just take the parts each are ok at, and you have one ok-ish guy.

The math checks out. Trust me.

In WoD we had “smart” ogres. I also saw Cho’gall mentioned, who was present both in the main universe and the AU. They do exist and have existed. I just think Blizzard likes to present them as lumbering oafs. Kinda like how they present murlocs. They are actually quite smart themselves. We just can’t understand them. Instead, we mostly get the “haha small fish thing running at me yelling gibberish”.
