No, it’s somewhat bugged. Mined for hours today, and half the time my old world mount stayed flying, other times it dismounted me. There seemed to be no regular pattern either way, just random.

I’m mining while mounted on a regular mount. Did it all evening in Thaldrazsus and the Plains.

Wonder how they managed to fuss it up. :slightly_frowning_face:

I checked this out; I have only been dismounted if I tried to mine while hovering. If I land beside the node and mine, I stay mounted.

I guess its possible they adjusted standard mounts to not be able to hover and mine. Its not a huge issue if it stays that way, because hovering and or landing and staying mounted is much the same, gathering-wise.

uh… You’ve always had to land to pick herbs. If mining was allowing you to stay in flight, THAT seems like the bug.

I’d noticed that there was sometimes an advantage in elite zones to using old flying to carefully avoid aggro and tap high-value nodes. It didn’t occur to me that it was a big enough deal that they would nerf it, but I guess it’s completely shocked if they have.

Yes it is a big issue…we were led to believe that doing those points to our mining book would allow us to stay mounted and also be able to hoover with our regular mounts…some areas where I mine is very heavy in mobs I wouldn’t mine there if I can’t hoover and mine like I have been for quite a while now with my Love Rocket…

The points on mining DO allow a player to stay on their mount while mining, and that’s it. It saves time not having to dismount and mount, there was never any indication it would allow. Even the Sky Golem cant gather in flight, it has to land.

I dont know if the hover-gather on standard mounts was planned and they changed it, or if it was a bug. Either way, its not working now.

Exactly. Even though i will miss hover mining on my regular mount, it makes sense for them not to hover and mine.

They just brought it inline with DR mounts is all, because you HAVE TO LAND on a DR mount to mine.

edit i tested it on a tbc mount you can still mine from the mount
you need to be landed

Yep. When I first noticed that I could fly and mine, I wondered when they’d get around to fixing it, and which way they would end up going. Now it just matches herbing. I wish they’d just give you the “you’re flying” message instead of dismounting you though.

Then you havent used it while mounted recently, because its very broken.

It isnt a nerf, because it dismounts you instead of just not working and providing an error message like herbalism does,

Judging by this thread, it seems like it was broken but now it has been fixed. And folks are complaining that it now working correctly isn’t as broken as it was.

Not that it largely matters since folks just use the dragonriding mounts instead.

When herbalism dismounts you for not being at the correct elevation…then it can be called a fix.

Why do you consider that the fix when mining while flying could instead just give you the “you’re flying” error message instead?

I’d also like mining to not take me out of flight form, but I can just fly around on my Love Rocket instead to solve that problem.
