Is Moon Guard really a good server?

Someone asked awhile back for changing server’s for more population. Moon Guard came up several times - was that answer tongue in cheek or a good answer? I’m looking myself and forgot to bookmark the posts.

I was originally on a rp server though I’m mostly an (EDIT: Solo), open world player, not RPing. But it was really fun, populated when I’m on in the mornings. I even accidentally got to witness a wedding south of Ironforge. (I forgot the name of town.) It was so sweet. I do know to stay away from Goldshire).

So, joke or serious about Moon Guard?

Here are wayyyyy too many non rp people on the only good rp server left.

Moonguard is a great server if you are a furry.

It’s one of the best Alliance servers for sure.

If you don’t care about RP, just go on stormrage.

I think MG is a great server. Very healthy pop and just about anything under the sun (and moons) to do. Whether it be RP, raiding, or pvp. Just say no to Goldshire lol.

People keep saying “avoid Goldshire”, but it’s not the town itself you should worry about. Just don’t go inside the Lion’s Pride Inn. The town itself is just fine, with lots of ‘normal’ RP going on, and more than a little world pvp occurring every so often.

For Alliance the server is fine. Alliance Role-play there is great if you want that. World PVP is pretty poppin due to WRA’s Horde dominated server being cross realm.

But if you want to play Horde just go to WRA.

The jokes about Moonguard are overplayed. Every server’s Lion’s Pride Inn is filled with degenerates.

It’s glorious, but I’d be remiss not to say if you do roll there you should at least try some RP.

Everyone jokes about Goldshire but honestly the worst part of the server is Alliance trade chat.

This is true. It’s just the lowest idea of humor a bunch of 30-somethings can manage.

Moon Guard is great. Community is engaged in every single aspect of WoW’s gameplay, and Alliance has a healthy population. (Horde does NOT.)

I will mention it has a lot more non RP players over the last few years. People who have, quite frankly, idiotic names and should be forced to change those names because it’s still an RP server. I feel Blizz has relaxed that policy a lot, or maybe people aren’t reporting names anymore because no one cares.

The Auction House is very active, however lower level gear with cool appearances sell for a ludicrous amount of gold. That can be good or bad for you.

Definitely visit Goldshire just to see what exactly everyone means when they say not to go there, it’s a weird alternate universe. But it stays in Goldshire, you’ll find the rest of the world friendly and not gross.

Otherwise it’s the same as other servers: noisy trade chat full of people trying to funnier than the previous person, guilds that are cliquey, lots of illegal gold/service sellers, competition for rare spawns, and major lag in Stormwind any given evening. I’d say the last three are more because of how huge the population is.

Best server all around when compared to others. Welcome and have fun.

Wyrmsrest Accord, I think

I had to edit op. I’m solo and rarely run dungeons or raids.

I can understand your concern. I play mornings - solo, open-world, usually early mornings so I doubt I’ll be a problem.

The thing this solo likes is being around players choosing when I want to group up. With a painful disability, anxiety issues, and slow response time being a burden in a group is not my thing. When I’m hitting on all cylinders I can join in.

Super Alliance woman here!

Thank you for the replies :shamrock: :butterfly:

(Oh, PS - When I started during Mist’s I’d never played a video game - unless you count pac-man lol when I was a teen, though did play Oregon Trail in my early 40’s.) My sons & dil got me WrA. I chose a furry Panda because of where I starting! Stayed my main for a long time. My furry is happily retired back at home.

i moved all my characters that i play there, best decision i ever made for keeping me engaged in the game

Has no bearing in what I said. You want a full alliance server and don’t rp, that’s Stormrage.

Okay, ty

It depends on what your definition of good or bad is.

If your goal is to find a Mythic Raiding Guild or a Mythic+ Guild, it’s not a good place to look. They exist, but are small in number and mostly cliquey–which isn’t a bad thing at this stage in WoW’s life. Letting any and everyone into your guild is the easiest way to kill it.

If you enjoy playing the game as a collector with occasional chit chat in general, lfg or trade, it’s (usually) a good time. There’s a couple of really annoying people on MG that spam politics 24/7, but is otherwise a pleasant time. The “creepy” stuff is mostly confined to Lion’s Pride Inn, and it’s all in whispers anyways. Goldshire itself is a really chill place to just hangout at.

Just don’t play Horde on MG. Completely dead faction

After the ten years on and off I’ve been playing I’m really starting to wonder why we need to keep asking this question over and over. Do you think someone here is going to have a shining nugget of secret Moon Guard knowledge that nobody in any of the millions of exact same threads is going to have? You even cracked right off the bat with a teehee goldshire joke. What exactly is the point of this?
