Since BM is bad. How is MM?
Not as horrible as BFA release.
Subjectively fun, but has a few quirks that could be improved on (eg: Trickshots).
I’m personally not enjoying BM with it’s Barbed Shot mechanic, though I can bounce between MM and Surv (which is really worth looking into).
Awesome I was looking at sims. I have a lock but was thinking of giving hunter a go. Looks like mm is simming higher than my destro.
MM is great, i love the ability to take half or 2/3 hp in 1 second.
Once you feel that you wont feel confortable again with bm
Bm is still better for mythic+ according to world first hunter gingi, I can’t stand mm in dungeons, I mainly just jump on my mm now to 1 shot people in bgs
MM isn’t good. BM is just so bad that MM appears good in comparison. If you are going to play a turret class, I’d recommend warlock or shadow priest.
It’s like this. Imagine you are at the bar and it’s getting late. All the really pretty girls have already left. Nothing there but 3’s and 4’s and that’s after a night of drinking. In walks a 6 and every guy in the bar turns to check her out. That’s MM.
I saw your name then this post lol. I know mm is simming just ahead of bm but in every raid I’m in I see them in this order on damage.
- Mage
- Havoc
- Warlock
- Balance
- Hunter
MM is not bad. It’s not good, but it’s not bad. My main gripe with it in mythic+ is that since lone wolf is a thing you’re pressured to not use a pet, so you can’t dispel enrage/magic effects consistently without your damage suffering. Using a pet to lust on a boss isn’t a huge deal though.
The spec is kinda fun too. I think I prefer the playstyle BM, but MM is ok.
I swapped to MM for BOD and dont regret it. You lose some utility but bm scales horridly. Its not the most enjoyable rotation but having the high damage hits can be fun. Esp in pvp when you pop a doubleshot aimshot.
Does mm get a pet still?
It can but you loose 10% damage… Lone wolf is a passive buff now turns off if you have a pet out.
Trick shots should have the 5 target cap lifted.
You’re dealing with a spell on an ammo/charge system, costs resource and has a significant cast time. Even if you had no resource cost the cast time alone is enough of a balance mechanism.
Our AoE is already limited by how wise multishot can spray. This is just a nonsense limitation with our AoE.
Trick shot is capped at 6 targets, YAY. Hunter need nerf wink

In M+ BM hunter is slightly better than MM and both are a little bit above average overall. Not surprising because M+ tends to have a lot of high-movement situations and barbed shot/beast cleave/stomp does great damage against mobs.
In raids, BM is very near the bottom in most difficulties and MM is a solid middle of the pack spec.
From my own experiences with PvP, MM is much better than BM. Honestly it doesn’t feel like I can kill anything with BM but with MM I can get kills regularly.
for raids, MM is OK. our strength is in our burst window. i can delete a single add if i have TS up and i want to, it just costs me a global to put hunter’s mark on them. it can be useful in certain niche situations.
MM is pretty good for ST dps. you can make it up near the top of the meters if you have decent gear and play well. however, even great hunters will always be out dps’d by good spriests, locks, ele shaman, and boomkins.
the best fights for MM are the pure ST fights like mekkatorque: warcraftlogs .com/zone/statistics/21#boss=2276 and even here we get dumpstered by spriest/lock/ele (tho lock is getting a nerf in 8.1.5)
yes doesnt really do anything
I strongly feel we would quickly become an outlier if trick shots went above 5. would I love it? heck yea, but not at the expense of them removing damage from other areas. we have a ST niche that would end up getting ruined if trick shots was messed with. that being said I don’t think it would hurt to bump it to 6 or even 7
With the lack of sustained AOE MM should be a top tier ST dps class/spec. There is no reason for the only “archer” in the game to be sub par.
The game used to have balance, if you were good at AoE you had lower ST and vice versa. You have BM which is horrid ST and lower middle AOE. MM is good ST but not good enough with high burst AOE but lower end sustained.
8.1.5 needs to have some real class changes. Other classes need tweaks as well, returning pallys for one need a dps boost, warriors for the first time in a long time are lower on the DPS marks.
