I don’t main priest so I haven’t really been keeping up with it, but I like playing disc in keys on my alt.
I noticed in the beta and the WoWhead talents that mindgames is gone. Have they announced what they plan to do to replace this ability? Wouldn’t this make Priest the only class that doesn’t have an ability transferred from Shadowlands?
Edit: I see that it is only a PvP talent now, but are the talents that replacing it really worth just missing an ability in PvE? Even if you think it’s weak or wouldn’t take it, it’s strange that this is the one ability that came from Shadowlands which isn’t a part of the Class anymore and only a PvP talent.
I just think it’s strange because of how unique this situation is. Regardless of whether or not you think Shadowlands abilities should remain, Priest is the only class where the ability is only available in PvP compared to other classes that have them baked into either the class or spec tree.
Mindgames has been replaced with passive talents that heal when you refresh SW:P, taking 2% less damage from targets with SW:P, and increasing the range of your abilities by 15%. I was just expecting a different change and for at least 1 spec of Priest to keep Mindgames.
My point wasn’t that I think they should remain or not, I don’t care for the most part, if they fit the class good.
The point was it doesn’t matter. In Mind Games case it just doesn’t do anything for any priest specs in PvE, nothing meaningful and nothing that fits into the normal rotations.
They really love destroying the talent trees and just making us pick from talents huh. Hurts needing to slot into mass dispel and now mind games. Just leave it in the tree, if pveers don’t pick them, then let them not pick it.
To be fair Mindgames was really bad even in PvP, atleast in Dragonflight. The healing and damage reversal was abysmal and they’d need to buff it a lot or rework it for it to be good again. I remember in Shadowlands when it was good, I could Mindgames a Shaman at low health, his auto heal would proc and just instantly kill him. Can’t do that anymore, they nerfed it into oblivion.
I do wish we’d get something else though in place of Mindgames, some other active ability.
After recently playing Shadowlands for cosmetics, I would say I enjoyed and am partial for Unholy Nova.
With Unholy Nova which is an instant cast ranged AOE cooldown, it could work for all 3 specs and each spec have its own synergies tied and built into it.
With Shadow, have our dot spreading mechanic tied to it. Only issue is if you need to pick up Unholy Nova if the class tree in order for your spec tree to utilize it’s as a synergy then it would have to move to the middle area of the tree so you can tap into its synergies sooner but it would still give off that odd feeling that the hero trees give off where you need to pick a talent in a different tree to unlock some or major part of another.
I just want an alternative choice from Shadow Crash and Void Crash ain’t it lol.
Nope, they gave us a trash range increase and really low healing when shadow word pain expires talent.
The pver’s ruined the spec again, the first time was when they removed mind flay and mind spike being separate abilities.
Leave it to the guys who slay dragons auto attacking a tank to “parse” their littel detail meters to ruin the spec over and over.
It does need damage buffs, and the pvp talent version now on the beta is the buffed version.
Nah, still got healers to panic dispel it into a free 3 sec horror every time.
You can literally think of it as a free 3 sec cc. i like to silence the healer when i mind games and when they come out of the silence they have to choose to eat another 3 sec horror if they dispel.
