Not a fan of a melee hunter, no matter what the spec is.
I wasnât a fan post WoD and Iâm not a fan now.
I had more fun with ranged survival, I messed around with it since TBC heroics.
I tried the current melee version not long ago for like 5 minutes and ditched it.
The way it played during MoP was perfect I think. The damage was nice and smooth and consistent.
If some want melee to stay then they (Blizz) need to make it a 4th spec and bring back ranged survival spec.

Imo, it shouldâve been a talent choice or fourth spec, not a forced gameplay/style change entirely. I think it wouldâve fit best with beast mastery, considering all the duo pet abilities surv has now. Or they couldâve doubled down on what âsurvivalâ means. Throwing bombs directly in melee and rending things with your pet doesnât feel very survival-y to me. But better traps and neat variations of arrows sort of did.

Hunter was also my favorite ranged spec overall, and one of my most played classes. Now I donât touch mine.
Remember that poll they did around just before they changed it and hunter came out on top as the most popular class? Wonder if they thought theyâd improve it by making an entire spec differentâŚ

It is not that anyone wants it removed, nor can it be. It is that by having it something else was sacrificed for it. When it was a range spec there were many who enjoyed it, which is just as it is now that it is melee. Some do not care what happens to MSV, and that is cause they are bitter and do not care what it takes to have it back. However, not ever player thinks like this, and would like to find ways to keep both options avaible.
Do not take the ideas of those who would take away MSV as an over all idea of every RSV player. We all come from different areas, but the passion that we all share for playing Hunters is the glue that binds us.

My thoughts are Blizzard made this change that way be more focused on arguing with one another than all the shtty changes they have made to Hunters.
They wanted more melee men to play hunter so they made surv melee by giving it all ranged abilities outside of raptor strike/mongoose bite and muzzle.
What they started with was all melee, but then after Legion they said âyep we knew it would not be popularâ, so well just back track and add more range abilities.
If you going to kill off a spec just to show you can then stick to your guns. They did a dumb and tried to clean up the mess they made, but you can not get a cat back out of the bag once it is out.

For the last 3 expacs, Blizz has spent lots of man-hours on MSV, determined to make it âfunâ and âengagingâ while dogging down the other two specs. I wish they would quit the favoritism.
