Is Mastery stacking still a thing for casting Mistweaver M+?

Couple of years ago I stacked Mastery to heal from range. I had extremely big heals from Renewing Mist casts, Expel Harm, and my Gust of Mists was always #1 on the healing meter. Is that still a thing now? I’m not familiar with any changes since a few years ago.

Its still pretty good in raid as Gusts heals for quite a bit and on more abilities.

In dungeons you can go crit/haste or haste/crit as well. Bigger damage, more burst healing.

I still run a high mastery build gust still on top of healing

It’s not recommended but I have seen some caster builds do decent raid healing with it. Do be aware though, that it doesn’t contribute to damage like haste/crit does so you would be missing out on that contribution to your group.

I don’t understand why people insist on playing the original melee healer incorrectly.

Casting is super strong in raids. You still weave in damage with RSK, TP, and BoK if you can.

The changes to AT made casting strong too.

Both playstyles are viable

At that point they are both casting specs. There isn’t a great deal of difference when both are running melee.

  1. Because I keep hearing Healer damage is negligible in keys and only for the top 1%.
  2. I fell for the monk class because of Soothing Mist + Jade Serpent Statue animation / art.
  3. Bored of melee from tanking as Brewmaster years ago but still like Monk because green.

Negligible? The vast majority of my DPS goes to 450k+ overall, that’s not negligible… ht tps://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/us/azralon/popkone?zone=39#metric=dps&spec=Mistweaver&class=Monk

What happens when you go over 100% mastery? If someone could explain the math of it or maybe if there’s a cap we don’t want to go over, that’d be appreciated.

I meant no offense great Mistweaver. But i was quoting from the a video I watched about healer anxiety. Also I pug M+.

Soothing Mists is just as old and part of the original design of this spec as fistweaving is.

Let people play the way they want to.

2nd this - While I think people should be informed about what diverging from the “optimal” spec will affect, ultimately they should play the way they want to. Most folks aren’t going to be getting high enough on the M+ and raiding ladder for it to matter anyway.

In M+ I stacked mastery and had caster build that was successful I used it early this season in pugs: because the challengers peril time penalty - there were more times I would see that keys would succeed by preventing near deaths then the tiny amount of added healer dps. Now at this time mid season, everyone has good enough gear and experience in the dungeons.

Because there’s viable options now with the changes theyve made lol.

I’ve always been a fist weaver and on team fist weaving cause I loved trying to push dmg. And now Im sort of unironically a caster weaver ish cause I can pump 700k+ dps in 12s. And my healing is still amazing.

I timed a 12 mist with 5 seconds left with one friend dying to stupid stuff multiple times and I did 712k iirc. If I only did the typical 300-400k we wouldn’t have timed it.

Mastery has a flat base heal value based on int like everything else. Mastery is then just a modifier to boost it further.

If I have 20k base gusts, and I have 140% mastery. My gusts do 48k (reflected in the tooltip). As an example.

Overall damage? Care to share the build or log? Because I find very hard to believe. Specially in a “caster build”

This kinda damage is what you see in builds where ancient teachings do ten times the amount of heal that the second heal did, while wearing 630+ gear, running harmony, crackling jade thunder… A lot of uptime dpsing.

You can certainly do good damage. But nowhere close to 700k+ overall without an specialized build.

Yeah, I feel I’m happy if I can average 200k-250k overall for a dungeon (but I’m running conduit).

700k seems extremely high.
