So I’ve never had a huge problem doing M+ the last few years. Generally it’s taken me about a month to get all the mechanics down and start running 10’s (previously 18’s). But this time it feels different. I’m not sure if I’m getting worse at the game, if other people are, some combination of the two, or if M+ is just harder in general. Maybe the new affixes are throwing people off? Is anybody else noticing this about M+, that you’re struggling much more than in previous seasons?
Also, on a side note, Delves seem disproportionately easy compared to M+ of the same ilevel in the vault. Plus Delves take dramatically less time, usually I complete a Delve in 7-8 minutes where as an M+ dungeon takes 20-40 minutes depending on wipes. Basically, I’m getting to a point now where I’m just running Delves for vault gear and using M+ to grind upgrade currency. Just kind of a weird state of the game IMHO.
Anybody else feel like something is off with M+ right now?

Yes, it’s harder.
You said you would do runs and eventually start running 10s.
Well, now the first level is equivalent to a 10!
In other words, what you would work towards is now your starting point!!!

I meant 10’s from the new system (myth level vault gear). This was previously 18’s before they made the changes. I’m talking about end-game level M+. Last seasons I got all my 10’s done on multiple characters without issues but this season I’m struggling to even do a 7 most of the time.
even 5 Grim Batol has been my bane this season

Yeah I’ve never been a fan of Grim even back in Cata but now it just feels impossible for healers to keep up sometimes. Even when I’m pumping out maximum self healing as a tank the healers can barely keep up at times. Plus the cast times of some of the 1 shot trash abilities are just way too fast.

Yes, M+ difficulty matches the loot quality now.
It’s a great, needed change. Unfortunately now that getting better loot requires overcoming a higher difficulty challenge, M+ real popularity has been exposed and shown that it isn’t actually wildly popular, and a majority proportion of people only ran it because they were forced to for the easy high ilvl gear.
Now that there are alternatives, same people are not bothering with M+ anymore because they never wanted to run it and deal with the timer and toxicity.

I mean there’s no real alternative to max level gear right? Delves only give a maximum of hero gear. You need to either Mythic raid or do 10 or above M+ to get Myth gear in the vault. Unless I’m missing something Delves don’t seem to give out Myth level gear?
If you are calling heroic tier loot “high ilvl” you are part of the issue, and not the solution lmfao

Ive actually put aside my Rdruid for now cause healing just isnt fun, but im a massive stresshead. Feels like i just can’t heal the damage and if any dps take extra damage, ded
It feels a bit harder moreover when you have to execute dungeons better than before as timers were very generous in DF but this feels closer to what I think M+ were meant to be. Also this season will have people scale harder than before so we’ll have to see by then.

The challenger’s peril thing is certainly a cloud over M+ rn as well. 15secs per death, adds up real quick. 2 wipes is a certified brick. Definitely won’t inspire more toxic key-leavers.

You’re not, they don’t.
It makes key levels from 2-6 basically worthless for progression outside of bumping up score, and 7-8 only valuable for a chance at a piece on a higher upgrade track which you can’t actually bump above champ anyway until you run 9s or raid H/M.
You also have to consider the changes to disrupts going into this season.
You can’t just AoE stun and call it a wrap on that pack’s volley of potentially lethal spells, you have to specifically interrupt them or they go through because CC no longer counts as an interrupt, so if you pug it’s not a bit harder but a lot by their very nature.

Timers were definitely longer in DF but I also rarely wiped in DF even when doing 10 or above. I seem to wipe constantly right now even when doing 5’s and 7’s so the timer doesn’t really effect the difficulty.

10s in DF were the equivalent of m0s until S4. Season 4 which used the new system was also very easy. Right now we have tanks and healers which are figuring out how to play with the new designs and people being catapulted from delves into +7 with no awareness of mechanics. Doing a +17 in DF without knowing what’s going would probably get you a pretty rough adventure.
S4 also had bullion, which meant high quality trinkets / rings / cantrip items which would obviously assuage any difficulties groups would have in clearing the content.
The difficult part is entry and I would say they are more annoying than anything. I don’t want to do Shadowlands dungeons, for one and for two, Siege? Really? This is what they went with? The dungeon is a bug ridden mess.
It did help and made gearing way faster. But dungeons also got nerfed over the whole expansion and even more in s4.
Yeah I’m talking about 18’s in early DF. I also did 18’s in SL without an issue. Basically I’m referring to technically end-game level M+ being much much harder now. I did 10’s last season (previously 18’s) after they implemented the changes on multiple alts. Now I don’t even want to think about doing 10’s because 7’s have already been so rough.
Not many people were timing +15s during the first weeks of SL, I think SL beginning of season was much harder than TWW imo. But you didn’t need to do +20s too.

Yes you have to be 630 ivl to do mythic +2 or no invite
