Is leveling a rogue worth it?

With the TW event coming to an end, I’d like to at least try and get one more character up and with a class I haven’t done so yet. I want priest, but want rogue a bit more. However, especially being stuck in a starter like the worg area, it is pain.
So I want to know, is the payoff later on at 70-80 worth it? Or would it be better to get say a priest up instead?

Would be better to go Priest.

Playing a Rogue is like shooting yourself in the foot before running a marathon.

Worth it in what capacity? Your post is too vague lol.

I recently leveled a Assassination Rogue and i enjoy it as an alt.

But yeah way too vague. Do you have PVP goals? Delve goals? Just casual fun?

Oh if it’s for PVP, then yeah Rogue is S tier. You can AFK stealth your way through BGs for all the PVP gear. That’s what I do in WoW’s PVP because it’s dog water and they force you to grab an entry level gear set before you can actually do anything.

Not to mention Rogues are just good in PVP obviously. They are still completely designed around it, half their abilities can’t even be used on Delves, like Gouge, Vanish, Blind, etc, etc unless Brann somehow doesn’t cancel your Vanish and none of that crap, not even Sap is used in PVE. If Vanish didn’t give dmg buffs, it would literally never be used LOL.

Rogue is one of those classes that attracts a specific kinda person, they have a playstyle that is weirdly distinct from other energy classes that most people don’t really mesh well with.

Totally worth a try though, if you end up liking it they are a consistently powerful without being so powerful as to catch massive nerfs often.

Can they survive basic enemies/mobs without nearly dying each time.
I’m not saying tank pull 20 enemies or anything, but just basic mobs.
At low level, 2 enemies is enough to put me in red.
So pretty much just general overworld stuff and possibly some delves.

Bad news, they can’t. Fighting mobs on Rogue doesn’t feel good until like 619 ilvl unfortunately.

You are too vague , to what extent do you mean is it worth it? Do you prefer dps in dungeons / raids? Do you prefer pvp?

Subtlety Rogue is one of my favorite classes at cap, but it’s by far the worst to level. Depending on how fast you usually are, though, that isn’t too big of a deal. I would recommend following one of Harldan’s quest routes.

That being said, I also tried Priest for the first time a few days back and I find Shadow to be a really solid DPS. It really comes down to personal preference and you honestly won’t know until you give them a try.

Lol yes.

Lol wut?

I am definitely a “rogue for dummies” person, but find it scratches a certain itch to drag out my assassin rogue every few months to see if I can still do the rotation and kill some stuff. Loved it in delves, tried it in LFR and was dead very quickly from ground swirlies. So some learning curve there. But a rogue is very worth it.

They don’t have a healing spec like your priest though. I have a priest too and they are very popular for discipline spec. No reason you can’t do both.

sub, outlaw and sin play almost entirely differently

sin has a ton of downtime outside their CDs and require pooling energy

outlaw is 100% APM dependent, you need to be spamming abilities at all times to match other specs’ dps because its main CD isn’t bursty at all and your abilities reduce its CD. You pretty much need to be in AR at all times to compete in dps. It’s also heavily RNG because you get random dice buffs from some of your abilities and you need at least 4 to press Keep it Rolling and extend them out. You also cant control which buffs you get so there will be times where it takes forever to get 4 buffs.

Sub is the most normal of the three. Always something to press but your big damage is in your CDs

Take the statement or leave it. I guarantee when he’s leveling a Rogue he is gonna get destroyed killing mobs and the experience is gonna be horrible compared to other classes.

Depends on what your goals are.

I’m maining a Rogue (sub) this expansion because I’ve always wanted to and I enjoy the class fantasy.

I’m a casual player, don’t run mythics or do very much PVP.

Took me a little bit to get use to the rotation but overall I’m having fun and will probably keep maining him until the next expac.

Hope this helps :+1:

Leveling where everything dies if you sneeze in their general direction?

Lol no.

Yeah until you hit level 70 and hit everything for zero damage.

I don’t care if you disagree, OP is about to have a bad experience lol. Especially in Timewalking where everything is dead before you can even build combo points. Have fun running behind a tank doing nothing the entire time and even better, have fun running 100 yards behind a level 11 twink, doing nothing.

Has nothing to do with disagreeing, you are just wrong.

You being horrible at the game doesn’t impact the class, only your personal play with it lol.

How do you know I’m horrible at the class?

Explain how I’m wrong, explain how he is gonna have a good experience, lets see you type more than one sentence.

Just kidding, I put you on ignore already lmao. Don’t have time for people who just disagree with everything and think they know everything.

Because you literally said a Rogue struggles with overworld mobs until 619. That’s a wild statement and definitely indicates how god awful you are lol.
