Is leech or avoidance better for a dps to have for M+ and raiding?

Which one should I prefer?

i’d say Leech.

avoidance does not work on spells, does it? so nothing should physically hit you in raids or M+.

edit: mouseover says Avoidance works on AOE incoming attacks. still my vote goes to Leech.

Meanwhile I’m stuck using speed enchants just so I can keep up with the group

leech is useful on every single boss and trash pull.

there are many pulls where you do not get hit by something that qualifies for damage reduction by avoidance.

I recall Avoidance being recommended for raiding since it makes healers’ lives easier during the more difficult parts of encounters (unavoidable AOE). On the other hand, leach is more universal (anytime you can deal damage instead of just AOE) but its less helpful during those occasions unless you can get absurd amounts a la DHs.

I can see that issue with a warlock. Vel rush is dangerous to use in those scenarios.

Depends how often you screw up. Leech is better if you make a lot of mistakes and take avoidable damage, it helps you recover. But if you can play well enough to take minimal avoidable damage then avoidance becomes the better option since it can have a big effect on the amount of unavoidable AOE damage some mobs and boss do, things you can’t play around but just get hit by (Storm bro in Nokuhd Offensive for instance).

Why don’t you just use metamorphosis and demon leap back up to the… group… umm… sorry.

Leech > Speed > Avoidance in almost all cases.
In a few specific cases, Speed > Leech.
Avoid avoidance.

Edit: Oh, for M+ and Raiding.
In that case, Avoidance is just better.

For solo play and PvP, I stick by what I’ve posted.

They went nuts with the amount of raid damage this season, so avoidance is very helpful.

It’s going to come down to preference and class as well. Classes that already have innate leech will see less value from it.

I like speed

I have heard several times over the last couple years that avoidance was the way to go, because even though leech was a constant effect and guaranteed to help some, avoidance helped reduce damage during the most deadly portions of encounters, and therefore was more helpful for both your own survivability and the group as a whole.

Not sure if that is true or not and what the numbers break down to in DF, but looking what avoidance and leech actually do I’ve pretty much accepted that explanation and go with avoidance all the way.

COuld be convinced of course, but for now avoidance yep

Top 3 Fury warriors on NA who has done above 15 keys are stacking Avoidance.

You don’t need more leech as a fury warrior. I dont know what spec you are playing. I am assuming.

Avoidance 100%. Leech is close to useless.

just keep a handful of leeches, and throw them at people who attack.

I have 225 leech from enchants. it returns 2.05% dmg as health to me.

Right now, I avg 45k dps in M+8, that’s returning 900 hps, as long as it’s sustained.

AoE dmg in a M+8 is dealing me around 15k dps.

a 10k hit will return 200. a 20k crit, 400.

Leech is a waste imho.

I will be looking into avoidance next log in lol…

Unless he is tank or picking flowers in Ohnaran plains and needs to fight a mob.

Generally avoidance is king, especially in M+. There may be some specific exceptions, but avoidance is stronger IMO since it’s damage reduction, as opposed to healing.
