Is Latent Poison x3 worth it vs venomous fangs And wilderness survival

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s tested this but I recently switched my outer ring azerite traits from latent poisonx3 to latent poison, wilderness survival and venomous fangs. Btw I only care about pvp.

I did a 3 minute damage test with each set of traits and it seems like wilderness survival scales much better with mongoose bite than latent poison, my mongoose bite hit for 8k higher on average and my bet did WAY more damage with venomous fangs. I know the tooltip says it only increases your pets “basic attacks” but it seemed to significantly increase kill command and bite as well. In the 3 minute damage test I lost about 400k damage with latent poison and gained about 800k with my pet.

It just seems to me that in pvp venomous fangs is stronger than 3x latent poison. Especially since your pet has about 90% uptime in pvp whereas your mongoose bite uptime is far less. Just wondering if anyone else has experimented with this, especially since latent poisonx3 is the meta.

It sounds like you’re giving up a lot of burst that you can set up and unleash when it best suits you to gain a higher sustained damage that requires you to have a high uptime in melee range. In other words, it sounds like you’re trading out a build strongly suited for PVP for a build that’s better suited for PVE.

To the OP this is exactly what you’re losing. PvP burst for when your latents stack and you get the CC then it’s time to unload some damage. Your pet can only attack one target at a time, your latents can stack on numerous targets. Giving your target swap that much more of a harder hit if you’ve been spreading your serpent sting.

If you run poison build for PvE though in M+ Latent also is the better choice as you spread serpent and then tab target your mongoose giving you big numbers where your pet again only hits one target.
