Look, there is stuff to like about Karesh.
- It’s got a great aesthetic.
- The skybox is amazing.
- The music is solid.
- I love the story and the hard choices that come with facing a losing battle to save your world and the realities of mutual destruction.
But lets be honest: these are a bunch of basically barren floating islands. It’s just floating Tanaris.
We’ve got about a dozen treasures to find, and some rares split up between reality and phased-reality that drop some mounts. We got a world boss. We’ve got a non-campaign quest locked meta event in the style of Noah’s Ark.
I don’t know, just feels like far less “world” than what we got in Undermine, Amirdrassil, Abberus, and Zereth Mortis.
I don’t have fond memories of Korthia because of how long it lasted and its poor aesthetic but Korthia years later has still got a bunch of people rare farming and toy farming and Rift diving back then was way cooler than Phase diving is right now.
Karesh feels closer to Siren Isle or Forbidden Reach than it does to a major patch zone.
Are you guys loving it or feeling like maybe this one got cut short?

What’s wrong with Tanaris?

I love Tanaris but arguably Tanaris is more content than Karesh. Goblins and pirates and a time-cave full of dungeons? Yes please.
Karesh feels light for a major patch zone.

I was getting netherstorm vibes from it all which make sense since thats where we had the most interaction with the Ethereals outside of that void bit in legion.
I liked netherstorm so im enjoying it, my only visual complaint is the new dungeon zone isnt a place ingame so we dont get to see karesh grow back outside the domes after we push Dimensius back. Having that larger island and some post story progression there would have been great.

It’s ok. Better then Korthia imo and that wasnt too long ago.

Your stretch of time includes Korthia, so no.
Also, maybe wait until we’ve got more things unlocked next week before finalizing any judgements.

I don’t agree at all.
It’s a relatively small zone, but I think the features are more than enough to keep me busy.
There’s a new Delve, a new dungeon, and a new raid. Phase Diving and Ecological Succession will keep me busy for quite a while.
And there’s all the usual quests, side quests, treasures, rares, and Renown.
It feels like a comparable amount of content to Undermine (perhaps minus one long reputation grind).

Korthia, the city of secrets where the secret was that there was no city.

100% agree on this point.
I really hope they do change this someday. I’m not aware of all the story beats (I haven’t played the dungeon), but your comment gives me some hope that we might return to a revamped K’aresh in a future expansion.

The worst? Nah. I would argue that most of Shadowlands was worse than this zone. That said, I’m not really impressed by it.

Honestly…
I think it’s very concept is executed so well that it feels the way it does because it’s literally supposed too. There are barely any resources, it’s broken and barren, it’s been picked dry by scavengers and riddled with devourers that sucked dry anything outside of those domes which they are attacking because that’s all that’s left there now.
It’s not bad! Just… feels like how it is supposed to. Dead.

Is that a thing we know is going to happen?
Sure, there will be more campaign quests, but more landmass is going to open up?

I am going to reserve judgements until it fully opens, and the weeklies are available.
It does feel very, very sparse in terms of mob numbers.

It’s got basically no content at all. It objectively has the lowest and least varied (zero innovation, just things taken away) of any zone they’ve ever released. It has less than Korthia (it looks 9 billion times better at least).

Any new zone that has flying is ok by me. I’m going to avoid phase diving as much as possible though.

I didn’t hate Korthia but SL had already left a sour taste in my mouth by that point. Probably would have enjoyed it more if not for that. I look at Ka’resh and I feel…well, almost nothing.

The whole eco doming thing comes tomorrow.

Another joke event where you fill a bar by following an npc around who tells you what object to click on that we’ve seen 30000 times? HELL yes! I love BEING IN PRESCHOOL IN WOW

WoD’s first major patch gave us…
The SELFIE camera toy, and the Twitter (this was long before it got renamed X) integration.
I’m not joking.
