They’re both end bosses, but we kill G’huun while Jaina holds off the entire raid and then just kinda leaves. I think she might have broken a nail. Maybe.
Is she more powerful than an Old God? If so…why doesn’t she just solve all the Alliance’s problems for them?
I don’t think this is what Blizzard wants to imply, but then they need to do a better job on the story.
G’huun was fairly weak after when you cut through it’s “fortress defenses”. It was more of a commander than a frontline fighter.
Jaina solos the Horde raid (who have killed many gods) to buy time for the Alliance army to leave, and once the Alliance is safe she laughs at them and teleports away. She’s seen 5 seconds later with 100% health telling Anduin not to attack the pitiful weak Horde.

Jaina is arguably the strongest entity in the universe at this point, since she can beat the raid that’s beaten everything else.
We used titanic device to weaken G’huun before killing it, so I think it’s bit early to say she’s more powerful than Old God yet.
But she’s definitely more powerful than Archimonde, Kil’Jaeden and even Aggramar whom all died to a raid without any 3rd party help. She’s going to be most powerful magi in the universe after Azshara bites it. I do think it’s what Blizz wants to imply given by what she does in cinematics, though.
She doesn’t want to kill their enemies shown by threeslot’s screenshot, so it excuses why she’s not solving all the Alliance’s problem, AKA Horde.
archimonde with khadgar, grom, yrel and the combined forces of the mag’har, draenies and horde and the alliance.
kil jaeden with artifacts ,khadgar, velen, and illidan.
Agrramar with artifacts, and empowered by the phanteon of titans and with the help of the army of the light.
A fake old god, but honestly, i wouldn’t be surprised if Jaina beats Aszhara in a 1v1 next patch, even though we all know Azshara in lore is clearly a superior mage in every way.
It’s not entirely clear how powerful the HoA is compared to the artifacts. So far all it’s done that we can clearly identify as canonical (I.e isnt tied directly into game mechanics) is it siphons up Azerite. Beyond that its effect on our character is nebulous. Even if you want to argue that the traits are canon effects the Legion artifacts had more of those and they were more powerful. Usually.
My broader point is that it is very confusing how powerful we are supposed to be vs. the various NPCs we interact with. For example, the Champion of Light is able to take us on, but in other scenarios we roll over supposedly top rank characters.
I understand that ultimately it comes down to it being just a game and they want us to have certain fights so they tune the bosses accordingly. But I feel like there could be more effort put into giving a bit more story rationale.
Right now, we feel extraneous to the story. It’s all about the NPCs. And given that Blizzard shows us how much more powerful the NPCs are…why are we needed?
well, maybe in canon our characters never were the champions of our order since when later on we are just “the random champion of your faction” now lets forget when you were literally lyandrin’s boss.
More broadly though? A straight, linear progression of power cant really be assumed. The first tier raid bosses of a new expansion are almost never meant to be stronger then the last boss of the last tier. Yet in terms of their mechanics, their numbers, they are. But Sha’ifed Garrosh isnt stronger then Deathwing and undead Onxiya wasnt a last ditch effort to curb stomp the Lich King.
-Unlike in legion, there is only ONE heart of azeroth. There is 50% chance the champion of azeroth is an alliance race, so anything goes is this land of “canon vs gameplay”
-While it does grant powers, the main purpose of the HoA is to heal azeroth, not to smack ppl around.
-The whole point of taking the artifacts away is to canonically depower us as to make future threats seem belieable.
-The HoA was literally just created, Jaina’s staff is quite old and was recently recharged from lei shen’s energy.
“I feel if we were seen as equals to other big name characters it would, ironically, pull the power levels back into control. If we could wound the A-tier characters and fight the B-tier to a standstill or even win then maybe the writers would be more inclined to give creative narratives to battles then just go ‘Well the PC is helpless now!’”
He said that when we were talking about keeping the artifacts, and i agree with him on this one.
So what you’re saying is…the Heart of Azeroth is probably on an Alliance player. Therefore the Horde raid are trash mob level losers in canon and it’s not all that impressive that Jaina stomped their pitiful asses while cackling.
Was it confirmed there’s only one? Based on the description of Magni’s faction and just plain common sense I assumed there were way more than that because one person can’t heal an entire planet. They can’t be everywhere.
