Is it worth playing if you don't want to raid/dungeon?

I rolled a Hunter, because it’s one of the classes I didn’t play much back when I used to play (BC to early Cata) and it goes well with farting around the world doing whatever. While I healed a few hundred 5 mans and done some pinch raid healing on my Shaman “back in the day”, I really don’t have it in me to put that kind of time/thought/effort into MMOs in general anymore.

I like the limited scope of WoW Classic, but I wonder if it’s really worth it to play in the grand scheme of things if I’m just going to get to 60 on a handful of characters and be stuck in greens with nothing to do, because I don’t feel like doing any group content. I mean, I might run a dungeon a few times a year, but that hardly seems worth paying a subscription fee. AV can be entertaining, I suppose, but I’m not much of WoW PvP either (I prefer FPS).

Basically, I came back for the fishing. I also cook. And run, like all the time, everywhere, a lot.

You already spent $15 so…

There is no shame in just getting to 60 and quitting, if that’s what you enjoy. One level 60 can get you a solid 1-3 months of enjoyable game time. Which is more than enough for the relatively low price tag imo

Sub runs out in 9 days, hence the question. I already unsubbed to avoid the auto payment. I’m on the fence.

Honestly raiding takes like 2 hours max right now for me, the vast majority of my time is world PvP, farming, questing etc

I recommend raiding though, pigs should be common and the gear is great, shouldn’t be too big of a commitment

pigs? - im sure you meant pugs, this is my hope - im going to be slow to 60 and everyone will have it on farm, but hopefully it helps us casuals gear even quicker

Hey man, there are pigs in like every zone of this game. I swear someone at Blizzard was obsessed with boars.

Also spiders man. Why is azeroth plagued with 8 foot spiders and no one bat’s an eye?

You could stretch it out further than that if you’re really “farting around”.

Because you can feed a lot of people with an 8 foot spider.

Alternatively, you can feed one 8 foot spider a lot of people! And it’ll still probably be hungry!

Classic is best spent on a PvP server with friends or guild mates. There is plenty to do without ever having raid or do dungeons, unless you want to. If you are a solo player, then you are playing the wrong game.

It’s true. I essentially walked from Ashenvale to Duskwood just save a few silver when I wanted to train Bite 4. Also swam from Westfall to Bootybay, because fishing, of course. Then I walked from Ratchet back to Ashenvale by way of the Stonetallon Mountains. Shockingly entertaining, I have to say.

I barely did dungeons and never raided in vanilla.

I mainly wpvp/bgs and just explored, quested and farmed.

I had fun.

As long as you enjoy what you’re doing and find value in the sub fee then yes, it’s worth it. If you don’t enjoy it then no, it’s not worth it.

Not really. You can treat the other players like super-npcs. A regular npc is a crude robot that instantly forgets you when you move out of range. A player-npc is a much smarter opponent.

So a single-player experience with considering other players as competitors (competing for gathering, or for PvP, or even the AH marketplace) is a quite viable and fun playstyle.

It isn’t really the sole way I play, but it can be a play mode some of the time.

It sounds like an MMO just isn’t your type of game anymore. Nothing wrong with that. Our tastes, and free time change over the years.

I dunno man, I spent most of my time as Horde on Malorne and “world pvp” amounted to two things, high level players killing low level players who couldn’t fight back, and that time I rolled Alliance just to annoy my fellow Hordies, who definitely were annoyed when “PvP happened”. Feathermoon in BC was pretty good in Outland, due to the zone-wide bonus things - that was an RP server. Anyway, I don’t have the patience for leveling another toon on a pvp server.

It sucks with all the giant spiders being arachnophobic … i wouldnt leave my house if there were car size spiders in rl

Retail is probably better for you then.

Much less time commitment and lots of 1-off stuff you can do to get comparable gear to raiders and mythic dungeon runners.
