Is It Worth It To Get Into SoD As A New Player?

So maybe I’m overthinking this but I’m going over my checklist of things I need to do to get on the same level as the rest of the playerbase and im letting out a long sigh, life complications made it so I couldn’t enjoy the game for a good 4-5 months and now that I’m finally looking at SoD as someone who is late to the party I’m wondering if it’s even worth it?
I get the vibe I have A LOT of stuff I gotta catch up on before I’m raid ready or even pvp ready when it comes to ranking.

It’ll for sure take you some time to catch up but I still see a lot of low levels running around so you won’t alone at least

This phase is bad. Start leveling and grinding now and you’ll be endgame ready for the next phase that hopefully won’t be as bad.

Depends on how much time youd like to sink and upkeep

Feels like there are better games available atm

Levelling is fast thanks to 100% XP boost and new abilities. Lots of people levelling alts or re-joining.

Getting some of the old runes is a slag where they require group content, and you’re often better off going back when you’re over levelled and soloing it. That can mean a lot of time globetrotting and doing busywork all at once, if you want to collect them all.

For all the complaints, it’s still the most fun I’ve had with WoW since Classic launched in 2019.

SOD is as good of a time as you’re gonna get as a new player in WoW

yes, emerald rep basically reset gear for new raid

Longest sentence 2024.

The short answer is play it. Don’t overthink everything. It’s seasonal. Everyone here thinks their toons will live on after the season.

Forums will be fun when we all get deleted.

Seasonal.

the real game starts at 60. that’s make or break for me personally. at current stage SoD has been popcorn clown faire fun, the kind of thing you get from a private server. it’ll start to get old soon though.

Is It Worth It To Get Into SoD As A New Player?

The short answer is ‘no’.

The longer answer is, what do you mean by new player?

If you haven’t subscribed to any version of WoW since before 2017, then trying to play SoD will result in you being locked out of Trading, Mailing, and using the Auction House for your first 30 days. If this applies to you and playing the game under these restrictions sounds terrible, then don’t do it.

Even if you aren’t a REAL new player and have an active WoW subscription since after 2017, I would still not recommend starting SoD at this point to be honest.

Though maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it’s actually more fun to play Phase 3 as a completely fresh player to SoD then it is to play Phase 3 as someone who’s also played Phase 1 and 2…

Agree to disagree. I’ve been saying for yonks that a staggered level cap is the way to go for a seasonal server. Even without the runes and new content, I think that by itself would have been great.

in a couple days u can be level 50, grab the emerald warden set can run gnomer get most the trash peeps dont want and after a few mara brd zf runs you and 4 stv events you will be fullly geared, better then ALOT of players. Three days later another gomer next week can start running ST pretty easy and hit another gnomer at this point You will out gear 70 percent of the peeps playing.

Definitely, it’s enjoyable… catching up shouldn’t take long.

Ya, i did catch up in two weeks playing 3 hours a day, you will be fine,

wrong, even for a new players classic setting is just overall better than retail.

It starts at level 1.

I started 1 week b4 p3 went live and already caught up, playing 3 hours. Dont spread misinformation.

Not worth it

Population is dwindling

Rollout of the seasons phases feels lackluster at this point.

Class balance and PvP feels wack

SOD is Mids

Not worth it. But if you do start now, make sure you do NOT roll on a PVP server because you will get camped out of doing 3/4 of the content. Really nothing is playable in the contested zones.

Players are leaving, not starting SOD. I’ve let 2 accounts go and have decided to let the other 4 go as well.

Honestly OP, just try it for yourself and figure it out that way… you aren’t gonna get many people on here who will give you a non-emotional response, you might like it, you might find it to be nothing special but ok, you might even actively loath it. Only you can figure that out.
