Like, I’m levelling a dwarf. After Dun Morogh, it seems natural to move on to Loch Modan. But there’s a dungeon at the end of the quests in Westfall. Is it worth travelling there to level and doing the dungeon? Or is it fine to just skip it and do quests?
Yes. Get the quests (most or all can be shared) and you’ll get lots of XP.
It depends how efficient you want to be while leveling. If you have a good group then dungeons are an excellent way to level. But if your group isn’t good, and you wipe multiple times, it’s a very slow source of experience.
If you’re not concerned a whole lot with leveling speed, id always recommend hitting each dungeon at least once.
You can skip it, but IMO dungeons are half the fun of leveling up, and most will offer blue gear that you’ll wear for several levels. I don’t plan to skip any.
You’ll definitely want to do at least a few dungeons for quests/gear. Some of said quests offer excellent rewards as well, such as the Vancleef quest, or the main Gnomeregan quest if you’re a leather wearer (the cloth/mail rewards aren’t quite as good).
Also, if you’re a warrior or rogue, doing the main Maraudon quest for Thrash Blade is also highly recommended.
I could go on babbling for an hour about leveling, and you could research with YouTube vids for days, but each person’s leveling experience is different, and it’s ultimately up to you want you want to do. Just try to enjoy it no matter what.
TLDR: Dungeon elites give x2.5 experience over regular mobs. Dungeons hold powerful upgrades and quest items. It’s worth it.
Yes. Get the quests, or at least the unsharable ones and group with somebody who can share the rest. It’s a good chunk of XP, nevermind the chance at a little loot to make your leveling go smoothly.
Dungeons are really only worth skipping if it’s taking forever to find a group or your group wipes several times.
Dont rush to cap
Gotta define you end goal to work out optimality.
For maximim xp per hour apparently it isn’t worth doing dungeons.
For cool gear fun and questing yeah there is zero doubt you should.
Its worth it for the experience, game play experience not char experience. Its a journey, enjoy it and absorb as much as you can.
Dungeons, in my humble opinion, are absolutely worth it while leveling. And just not for the blue gear and dungeon quest EXP, but also for the sheer fun of it. It’s social, it’s challenging and it’s very much part of what made the older iterations of WoW so memorable for so many people.
it’s different than in retail. you have to go out of your way to get to the dungeons to do them… that being said, I went out of my way before and will probably now. But who knows i’m only level 7…
