I have heard that lots of healers have quit M+ because it’s really hard and also heard some quit because there was a time where you didn’t need healers because of the amount of off-healing that was going out.
Is any of this true? Does anyone know

Maybe? It depends how you define “a lot.” There exist healers who have quit healing M+ this season. However, I am a healer who started healing M+ this season.
When I’m healing, I’m not pugging, I am healing guildies and friends. I assume most who heal also don’t like pugging.
Ah yes, this topic. Again. By a level 13 1 post character
If you are doing an easier key like UR or FH, it probably doesn’t feel like there’s a lack of healers…
…but you get some of the more unpopular keys and you’ll probably be waiting awhile and wondering if all the healers died or are just playing with friends.
Blame Blizzard for that, VP, halls and ulda are some of the most miserable healing experiences I’ve ever had in m+ and I avoid those dungeons like the plague, I’m assuming a lot of healers probably feel the same way.
Sounds credible
I heard if you say Gary busey’s name in front of a mirror in the dark while holding a can of 4 loko you grow giant teeth
i only heal pugs, no friends, no guild.
I have holy pally, priest, voker.
That being said I see plenty of groups with 3 dps 1 tank so its possible. Doubt it is as bad as the fourms say.
I just switched to holy paladin but i usually stay at low keys and normal mode raids these days.
it’s really not as bad as the forums make it out to be.
20+ keys pretty much get a healer within 5 minutes.
What happened was that they NERFED healers at the start of Dragonflight, and then nerfed them AGAIN at the start of Season 2.
The mechanics of healing didn’t really change, it just feels like you are trying to heal in low-level world-quest gear now. You have to heal balls-to-the-wall just to be able to do what used to be considered “normal” healing back in shadowlands. When things go bad, or the tank pulls too aggressively, you often feel helpless.
You also have tons of affixes that many groups shrug off as being the healer’s responsibility, giving the healer a disproportionate share of the affix workload.
Add on traditional burdens like no one ever wanting to wait for you to drink for mana. It’s often worse now, since in many cases you have to use more mana than you had to use before, due to heals being so weak.
In good, coordinated groups, it’s not too bad because there is less avoidable damage being taken, people are responsible enough to help with affixes, and the group pays attention to healer mana. In a pug, it’s often very unforgiving even for experienced players, never-mind newer players.
This is where I’m at.
I haven’t heard this for this season at all.
Weak bait. Go on literally any social media platform with credible, high end healers talking about this and get your info there.
if you want real answers, just check the m+ weekly runs and compare them to earlier weeks/season 1…also pay attention to the class variety, as it also plays a part in every season’s story.
numbers are way more honest than anyone’s opinion in GD (though they’ll still find a way to argue against them).
My theory is healers who rolled a healer for quick queues/group invites quit healing this season because they actually have to do some work now. As a healer main who chose the role because I wanted to heal, this season has been great.
The false idea that these “credible, high end healers” blabbing endlessly on social media accurately represents most healers has actually caused most of the problems that we are currently experiencing.
I took a break from healing to augment a little and play other classes to find something fun! So far paladin has been a blast and I’m gonna try Demon Hunter soon.
I’m thinking blood elf because they have the cool red skin customization
this is mostly a high level issue…it’s a complaint that players climbing the ladder (for various milestones) have.
i think sub 20 keys are fine…it is always funny to see “AUG” in a +18 or something…but the effect of a locked in meta will feel horrible at the beginning of a season…when the reward matters, players will be singing a different tune.
so it’s important they get back to Season 1 variety before the next patch
I don’t really like augs in the 16-18 range (where I’ve been healing because I’m not good). I feel like it’s risky because I’ve seen too many dps pulling like 60k aoe, so there’s not much to augment lol
